Yeah, time frame, I booked an original appointment at like 3:45 - IE 45 minutes after I finish on my teaching course, then they change it to like 9AM on both appointments, I rang up and they were like 'problem is that this consultant only works certain days and his time is limited'

It's not really my problem is it, whilst I appreciate that there's lots of people like me doing this, I can't do much about it.

Actually I think you'd find very few actual working women who would be dismayed by this. Political activists may get all hot under the collar about it but real women don't. The bugbear was always getting paid less for the same job, and I completely agree that shouldn't happen, but very few women give up work (as in, give up, rather than take minimum maternity) and then expect to come back to their previous level, or as seems to be implied in this article, higher.

The biggest issue is for most women is the lack of meaningful part time work; it looked like part time and job sharing was getting traction until the financial crisis and since then its all gone away, which means, once again, the "professional middle" loses out. Low earning women don't see a change, and the super high earners can afford the childcare to minimise time away from work (and promotion opportunities), but the ones in the middle are stuck between a rock and hard place where they're effectively going to work to pay their childcare costs. Part time/job share made sense for these women, and I'd argue was a social good, even if it cost companies a bit more, but instead we take people out of the workforce (that as a state we've probably spent a small fortune educating) to save a few quid.
