Hey ho. Easy come, easy go. It's just a 'thing' but one I was very fond of. It should be insured tho.

The right attitude to take, else the things you own tend to end up owning you.

Mind you, I'm currently restoring my old road bike that I used while at college. Now if someone stole that I'd be very upset.

I get emotionally attached to my bikes. I choose the parts, I put them together myself, nobody gets to ride them but me. I'd be raging if some scumbag stole my bike.

In the NL, about 1300 bikes are stolen every day. That's a lot of bikes man. The logistics alone boggle the mind.

My first mountain bike got nicked in the 80s, a Raleigh Lizard. Absolutely loved that bike.

My current road bike, I chose the company, they made the frame to fit me, took 13 months for the frame to arrive, my choice of paint, my groupset, my choice of wheels, spent ages getting the right accessories, everything to my taste. And it still isn't quite finished. If someone stole it I wouldn't be able to replace it for over a year. Imagine how pissed off you'd be.

Mine too. From inside my student house. It was padlocked to the stairs, came back and the cut chain was just hanging there. Peugeot with a hideous purple and green paint job, but I loved that bike.

World Woman's Day inviting casual sexist comments from media outlets and social media.

If it was World Man's Day and men said anything close to what's been trumpeted today, there would be a shit storm.
I just don't understand why having a vagina means you need a special day highlighting the fact or special groups.... I find it fucking derogatory that society assumes I need special training or treatment because I bleed every month.....

In oracle they have a group that meets up made only of women in the business to promote themselves in the business. There is no mens group similar.

It just highlights differences rather than over coming them imo

There is one I am forced to go to as absence is seen as betrayal and career limiting..... It fucks me off, I have been integral in improving the view of central management on women in senior positions in this company for the last 16 years... By working hard, not using emotions but facts and reasoned debate to make my voice heard.... I don't need a special day that highlights the wonders of having tits to make my way in the corporate world...

So my dad collapsed/passed out on Tuesday night, I got home from the hospital about 2.00am. He's still in and had loads of tests, turns out he has a couple of dodgy arteries and has to go down to Southampton for a bypass op. He's 84 but very with it and seems to be taking in his stride.....

My brother on the other hand needs a good slap around the chops, he's turned into the bringer of doom, and he's really starting to piss me off. I've told him the op is quite routine these days and it will be fine, but I think he thinks the world is going to end and we're all going to die!!

Well...that is the same for Mum's day, Dad's day, Valentines day etc etc etc.

I hate them all equally. It's just a money making scheme. If I want to express my thanks, love etc for whatever person group then I will do.
I don't need a formal day to force me to do it!

wow Ed, what news. some in my mate's fam have had bypasses and they all went well. in some of the cases the feedback was that the people felt like new. at worst, they didn't feel any change.

Glad your dad is doing ok. Give your brother a a good slap then! Sounds like he needs it!

A friend of mine's son (early 20's) collapsed at home with a blood clot near his heart this week. Extremely lucky to be alive.
He is now at home waiting to to see if they can work out what caused it.

Your brother needs some perspective! Give him that slap please or maybe your dad should give it to him!

I know, I know a few people who have had them and they have been a great success, but the next hospital visit will be to see my brother cos I'd have thrown him out the nearest window!!

wow. looks to be....Australia? not sure. could be NZ but I can't place her accent. classy burp at 1.25, is she or others in the car drinking? the road has several curves she can't see around yet she's desperate to overtake? why? she's doing 60+ kph in certain spots and not overtaking the cyclists, so they're on a down gradient and/or going fairly fast. I don't see the cyclists breaking any rules or traces of erratic riding. The car in front of her seems to have the right idea, e.g. waiting till it's safe to overtake and then doing so. in short, no idea why she flips out really.

edit: given her other car vid, she seems to be a poor or inexperienced driver and seems to react really badly to situations that stress her out.

Just realised that last week I was about 40 minutes drive from the Barringer Crater (Meteor Crater to the yanks).

Now I'm ten hours drive away and kicking myself. I *always* wanted to see that. :(

Still. I guess it's not all bad. Except for a few grapes my food is in the bear safe and I'm settling down for bed in Sequoia National Park after having just seen General Sherman - the world's largest tree by mass.

And the sunset at 6500 feet was nice.

But still. Crater :(

It's just a big hole in the ground, you can always look at Stoke on Trent when you get home.

But hey it's not too bad, they've put me up in a hotel until a flight they can fit me on turns up!

Oh wait, it's an Ibis on Luton Airport.

Kill me now.

Lol. Did they pay for your dinner too? You stay in the best places. I only fles easyjet twice and then cause it was the only airline that went to that destination. There must be more choices for geneva
