Well im sorry, but you and the BBC website must of watched a different match to me. Gerrard was knackered after 20 mins, beckham was so so, lampard was FUCKING SHITE and as i said for me, scholes was our best player, but alas, shows how much you know about football when you have to base your assumptions and arguments on what you are told by the BBC website and if you actually watched the game you would of heard the commentators saying the exact same thing that they didnt think Scholes should of been substituted as he was our best player. So kindly fuck off calling me blind ok

If Scholes was your best player in your eyes, you either watched a rerun of a different game, or you are in love with him. Gerrard was great, but your best player was Ashley Cole.

Well, come play us anytime!!

Btw, last time we played we almost beat you in the UK. A lucky foul in last minutes and Beckham scored so you managed to get a draw!! :m00: :m00:

My reasoning for saying scholes was our best player as he was the only one probing with the ball and actually completing passes.

7th england didnt learn the lesson against France. No one has won defending a result so far. Either play to win till the last minute or risk losing.

Didn't Greece do that ??...go 1-0 ahead then won defending that result !!

Also, even other refs have said it was a very poor decision and wrong. They don't seem to understand why the ref ignored his linesman (who was better placed) and seemed to be able to see through 20 other players to see that it was a foul !!...Also, i really think that something should be done about the ref as a bad desicion like that could screw up a lot more matches. He needs to be made an example of as a warning to other refs not to bow to pressure of a home team and to use the tools he has at his disposal (the linesmen). I wonder what the other Euro refs made of that desicion, and what THE ref thought about it after he had seen a replay from a better viewpoint than he had. But, he seems to be very very quiet. Strange that..isnt it.

Greece played as offensive as they could against France, England didnt against Portugal, thats the difference.
If you have any knowledge you´d know that the difference between France and Greece is way bigger than between England and Portugal. Also, Greece tried, and did hold the ball within the team with the exception for 10-15 minutes at the end, thats why the managed to maintain the 1-0 and win. Another reason is that France is extremly ineffective and can basicly only score on penalties, freekicks, or using their hands to help em.

France have been poor throughout the tournament. It was only luck that took them through to the next stage.

England lost both our games because Sven respected the opposition too much. If he had treated Portugal and France games the same as he did the Swiss and Croatia ones then we would be in the semifinal imo.

And what about pathetic Sweden?

Poor guys....being one of the best teams on Euro 2004 so far and playing that defensive against Holland.....wtf where they doing defending with 9 players all the time and playing on the counter....good thing they lost...pathetic and to be ashamed off...you are in the f*cking quarter finals playing to a mediocre Holland...

I didn't think anything. Sven, our swedish coach, thought we could do it again, not me. I was shouting at the tv for our players to get out of their own fucking penalty area. :|

kinda amused Sven is still coaching for england... hes doing a pretty shitty job tbh. (and yes im swede)

u think its time to get a coach that acually know what hes doing now?

If you look at his record in competetive games its not actually that bad. One of the best win/loss ratios we have had for decades. However, that means shit when you are losing to shite teams like portugal.

"rofl shite team like portugal."

i look at our track record and we have won a lot at club levels last 2 years and our under 21 etc.... are constantly winning championships or getting 2nd or 3rd place.

england has won like what in the last few years ?? 1 champ cup with man united against bayern and thats it.

oh btw seems a lot of uefa ppl reviewed and reviewed that Sol campbell goal and they all said the referee made the right decision. Talk about biased ppl.
How can they all say that england wasnt robbed ?

Could it be that maybe they werent?

Could it be that they don't want to stir up anymore trouble than there already was about it? Yep, I think so.

Btw, he was talking about your international side, not your club teams.

And yeah, Portugal aren't great. They have only gotten this far in the championship because nearly all the other teams in it have been shit this year. Including England and Spain. If these teams were on decent form I doubt Portugal would've even got this far tbh. Besides, you're the home team, they always do well.

Ive seen only 2 teams put in consistent performances that there fans can be proud of in this competition, Greece and Czech Republic.

No one else can say theyve performed well. Too many teams got 1 goal ahead and then tried to sit on it, well played to the "lesser" teams who have gone out and played to win for 90 mins.

Portugal/Spain/England/Italy/Germany/France/Holland can all play a lot better than the performances ive seem in Euro2004, with Holland and Germany being particularly woeful. Hopefully this will make teams more attack minded in future contests so we get less of this 1-0 up and 10 behind the ball football.

lol what utter horsehit. So porto win the uefa cup last year and then the champions league this year so you have brag about club performances in the last 2 years. Mate, get a clue. Look at the overall performances of english teams in europe over the past FIVE years. Man utd champs league winners, liverpool uefa cup winners, and look how many of our teams reached the knockout stages.

Oh and gratz on Portugals first EVER major tournament final. SHame you had to get there on the back of poor performances from europes top teams.

he let fouls go and gave the Portugese the advantage every time.

Actually, I was watching the game as a neutral party just looking for a good game of football and I have to disagree with you here. I agree the ref was poor, but he was poor to both teams. I saw plenty of decisions that should have gone Portugals way going Englands way instead. The only reason that everyone says he is biased towards Portugal is because of that goal that was disallowed. Everyone is entitled to their opinions on it and there is a case for either side. The keeper was obstructed slightly (watch the slow motion replay, he has his arm over the keepers shoulder, though probably not intentionally), though it is debatable as to whether he would have made it over to make the save anyway.

As a neutral party I was pretty disapointed with the game, England got ahead early then just defended, most of the 90 minutes were boring to watch. Extra time was more entertaining and it's a shame it had to be decided on penalties.
