I have always had a weight problem. I have tried for years to lose weight and believe me december this year i was a really big girl. I think tho i have been very lucky in the fact up in bradford my doctor was able to recomend me for a gastric bypass. I had the op on the 11th of jan and so far im nearly 6stone down from what i weighed in august last year. Now i know this is not the best thing for everyone but for anyone who has a bad weight problem i have to say its the best thing i have ever done. Like alan i was fed up of having to get my clothes from fat peoples shops. I cant wait to be able to go in any clothes shop and buy something straight off the peg.

Eat 5 Viagra, hire some ladies of the night, then work it all off!

On a serious note, i heard something about carbohydrates not filling you up. What i mean is, you can eat toast for example, not feel full then eat another slice. Where as cereal leaves you feeling alot fuller.

Dont do the Atkins diet, its just pure protein and your body will get fucked.

Ketogenic diets do have their place, although you need to do your reading beforehand ;)

Can you get stretchmarks from weightloss?. I always thought that was only from growing too fast, where the skin is scarred from rapid growth.

yeah thats right. but when people lose weight they expect the stretchmarks to dissapear as well :p

i'm back on the wagon now, as i fell off and put 1st back on :S have just lost 7lbs in the past 2 weeks:) i will keep in mind the yoghurts before bedtime thing, because i've got an awful habit of wanting to eat crisps before bed!
im working on dropping fizzy drinks but my awful cola addiction is making it difficult!

Diet coke is virtually free if you're sensible with it. Something like 1.5kcal per 250ml serving.

And i like my stretchmarks from overgrowing, makes me feel 'ard :D

loose weight by exercise and eating properly. someone mention diet coke, and someone metioned rice for breakfast? wtf. the gym, run fir an hour to 75mins and its a good workout if you dont exercise imo. not eating properly is a poor excuse for being lazy.

It's really weird I've never had a problem with weight, I've tried so much to put it on and just can't do it. (I'm not saying this to show any of you up or anything like that) but I do seem to loose alot of weight which is strange.

I eat healthy and exercise regular, I walk pretty much everywhere, crunches and press-upps every day, just started again with the second.

Going to start running again.

Anything is healthy for you in moderation, bare that in mind you don't have to stop eating a certian food because it is classed as 'unhealthy' but you will need to cut back on it.

Good food choices, timings and portions = weight gain :p

That is possibly the most retarded thing i've ever heard :p

Well it works, amphetamine has a burning effect on the body and takes away hunger also. If you wanna loose weight quick i'd buy 10g amphetamine.

But as I said it is all about lifestyle in the end. But if you got a strong character you can self-medicate with amphetamine and after 3 weeks you worked out your diet scheduel etcetera and then you will be able to sustain your weight loss.

Gaining muscles and loosing weight has alot to do with genetics, myself I'm 184 cm tall and weight 74 kilos and I can't gain weight, everything I eat just transforms to heat :)
Then again I'm not in the gym 4 days a week either but if I was I'd deffo buy steroid shots and gain 30 kg of mass in 1 month then deff 15 kilos off to get rid of the water and fat. I mean steroids are there for your use xD, use them!

But hey sure if you wanna struggle loosing weight/gaining then go the hard way, but I'm telling you if your commited enough to go the hard way you should be able to cut the corners aswell and sustain your index afterwards.

And no I'm not saying ppl should be all high on amph but it works, it is a chemical drug, not unlike to some weight loss medicine so it do work. Now visit your local campus pusher vlad and stock up!! :<

Thing is I have a kidney problem so that dosn't help alot either.

I have seen many pediatricians and they can't seem to figure it out the way I eat and my lifestyle, for a normal person it would allow them to put on weight.

but due to my metabolism being faster and the kidney problem I've not got alot of hope when it comes to putting on weight, can loose it okay though but I do try to avoide that since I'm 'underweight' as it is.

If you want to completely annihilate yourself. Losing any more than 2-3lbs a week is unhealthy. Losing 20kg or so over 3 weeks is just crazy.

But as I said it is all about lifestyle in the end. But if you got a strong character you can self-medicate with amphetamine and after 3 weeks you worked out your diet scheduel etcetera and then you will be able to sustain your weight loss.

If you use amphetamines to lose weight you're a mug. Theres far safer and better ways to do it

You can't gain weight because you don't eat the right foods. You eat the right foods at the right times in the right quantities in addition to a good weight training routine and factor in adequate you will increase lean tissue. There is nothing else to it.

Then again I'm not in the gym 4 days a week either but if I was I'd deffo buy steroid shots and gain 30 kg of mass in 1 month then deff 15 kilos off to get rid of the water and fat. I mean steroids are there for your use xD, use them!

If you think running a cycle will add 15kg of lean tissue in 4 weeks, you are very sadly mistaken. By all means use them and don't run the proper protocol, shut down your testosterone production and lose any gained tissue, but don't complain when you didn't do your reading :p

But hey sure if you wanna struggle loosing weight/gaining then go the hard way, but I'm telling you if your commited enough to go the hard way you should be able to cut the corners aswell and sustain your index afterwards.

Kcals out > kcals in = weight loss. That's it. It's not hard. It's hard if you fanny about and don't stick to a good regime. I've lost 16 lbs over about 8 weeks. It's not tough if you're clued up.

And no I'm not saying ppl should be all high on amph but it works, it is a chemical drug, not unlike to some weight loss medicine so it do work. Now visit your local campus pusher vlad and stock up!! :<

It works and it fucks you up in the process. I'll stick to the safer, more beneficial methods.

Thanks for stopping by.

No matter what situation or enviroment you are in loosing that amount of weight in such a period of time is not good for you.

In contrast whats more unhealthy?

Reducing your weight drastically to try and improve your quality (and i suppose length) of life

vs

Endangering your health being at that weight.

That is indeed a good question.

But it can't be answered as a general question as it would be different depending on the person.

I've gone from 82.6kg to 77.4kg since February this year a loss of 5.2kg or 11.4 pounds in old money in 12 weeks. I managed this by eating when I'm hungry, cutting down on beer and crisps. eating more vegetables and less high fat snacks and doing a bit more exercise. Really nothing difficult at all.

Some suggestions:
Cook big batches of food for example cook a big vat of curry, bolognese or chilli (with lots of veg) then measure out into meal portions of about 2 scoops from a serving spoon into freezable bags or boxes and take those as your main meal along with a couple of slices of bread or a small amount of pasta/rice. Also helps if your not a great cook to use lowest fat and calorie sauces available.

Don`t eat crisps or chocolate and don`t ever drink full fat soft drinks or juice. Doesn`t it make you laugh how the fattest people always seem to go for the grab bag of full fat crisps and the 500ml of full fat coke?

Go for a walk for at least 20 minutes every night regardless of what other exercise you've done that day.

Regardless of how much food you put on your plate try and leave a bit at the end even if your still hungry and sip a drink between mouth fulls of food this will make you feel full faster.

If you do all that stuff you can`t fail to lose a good amount of weight over the next 6 months, don`t bother counting calories are trying to over do it you'll can`t live the rest of your life counting calories and if you try and do too much too soon you'll just burn out.

Hope this helps, worked for me so far.

Counting calories never works anyway. Those are the yo-yo diets, where people count calories for a week or two, lose a few pounds, stop dieting, and gain twice as much...

You don't need to count calories if you eat healthy, and listen to your body. For example: Christmas... People have a tendency to overeat, and gain multiple pounds in 1 day. Why? All you get is you feel nauseous for the afternoon/evening, shit like a wild ox the following morning... I don't get it.
Listen to your body. It'll tell you when it's had enough. It'll tell you when to stop eating, or needs different foods...

Case has a really good point its what I do myself cook up a huge bean and lentel and veg stew and just put it in tubs and viola fast food with none of the crap that even the "low fat" supposedly healthy tv dinners contains.

Potatoe junkie also had a good point about cold (raw) food if you are going to eat a lot of veg then steam it lightly or eat it raw, over cooking just kills any goodness thats in there.

Oh and if you hate fish heres a way that makes it nice my bf cant stand the stuff but he loves tuna steaks with chilli, garlic and soy sauce marinade.

The really big mistake to make is to cut down dramatically what you eat tbh i probably eat more now than i did when i was unhealthy and over weight and because im doing so much exercise i know that if i dont eat when my tum starts yelling at me ill probably keel over lol.

Really really great cure for stretch marks vitimin e cream, doesnt have to be the expensive stuff i use boots own vit e cream which is about 79p for a little bottle or 99p for a larger one, i used to have problems with eczma (sp?) too and it got rid of that and a small thread vein in my ankle has totally gone now, loads of "experts" will say you cant get rid of stretch marks but i use this cream every day and i dont have any any more and i had them on my thighs, hips and arms so ner!

also you can get food poisoning from rice, the majority of the time when you get a tummy upset after a curry is from the rice not being heated properly, 5 mins in m/wave on full power will cook it properly and only ever reheat rice once after its been cooked.

oh and go for whole meal pasta/bread and brown rice i know i know but the white stuff is unbelievably bad for you.

aaah and a really really nice healthy high energy snack bar for when your starting to flag (i eat them when hiking) http://www.eatnatural.co.uk/splash.jsp just too nice for words tbh.

if you just want to lose weight and to fit in smaller clothes, just eat very little (1200-1500 kcal maybe, can start with more tho) and do some cardiovascular exercise. its very unhealthy, you will feel hungry & tired & pissed off most of the time, you will end up burning muscles first, but scale reading WILL go down rather fast... eventually you'll be "thin fat", but it sure is still better than "fat fat"

if you want to end up looking muscular (or generally look good without clothes), its somewhat more complicated... you need to start weight training, eat properly etc, but there are plenty of websites dedicated to helping with that. for example http://www.johnstonefitness.com

That's currently my diet (mostly), and I've lost no muscle (If anything, the muscles in my legs have become firmer, muscles around the shoulders have aswell) The whole 'feeling hungry, tired and pissef off most of the time' is totally crap. After a short (hell, even long) session of CV work you don't feel pissed off, (You feel fatigued, but that's normal) you just generally feel better and less active. (Energy burn/good workout will make you feel happier etc)

Atleast, with me...

EDIT:

Imo, CV work is the best to do; since you work all the muscles (atleast, most) in your body and you lose the weight the fastest. It's logic if you want to gain mass (muscle etc) you need to use weights, but... CV is good. (Why do you think Swimming is wtfuber)

Weight training is far superior to CV for weight loss, simply because it burns many more calories, and any increase in lean tissue means your calorie output increases.
