Just wondering who should win in this situation:

Say 1 SM who is RR5+, Dark Specced and has MoC3 comes across a Sorc who is RR5+ and who also has MoC3 and a Pet in tow.

Ok - both are in range of each other (So Sorc's additional range is negated).

They both see each other at the same time.

They both ML9 their pets, send them to each other.

Now I know the SM has a dex and dex/qui debuff - does the Sorc have the same?

They both MoC and LT LT LT LT, and are both specced with the same MoM and WP.

Who wins?

Does it just go down to who has the most mana to keep casting LT?

Say they both have roughly the same Dex too, so they are virtually casting at the same speed (except the Sorc may be Dex and Dex/Qui debuffed)

Just curious - this is a totally fictional battle.

The sorc, cause he has a DI bot hidden behind a tree further away

No really, the one who can mash LT button fastest wins.

If they survive getting the pet to the enemy then the sorc has an advantage of the RR5 getting rid of a lot of dmg from the pet, but can they use that while moc'd? can't really remember.

SM would win

higher delve lifetap and selfinstant heal from pet if needed

they both have double dex debuffs

and sorc cannot moc+rr5 at the same time anymore

Sorc has the double debuff as well.

The SM has a 90% return on the lifetap, compaired to the sorc's 60%(?) -so if the MoC was running indefinately the SM would eventually win. But I guess it comes down to who's MoC runs out first (-and that one will loose)

if they both nuked for the same damage and landed at the same time, the sorc would be taking 40% damage from nukes, the SM 10%...

So I'd say the SM wins, unless the sorc has a stun proccing pet.

sorc when played well

SM when play well :)

It would depend on the Sorc spec as well. As the SM will have red dex/quick debuff, the Sorc will have Blue (if Mind), Yellow (if 39/37 spec) or Red (if body specced). Also if Body specced the Sorc will only have a green con pet.

I think if you set this up you would find the outcome pretty even and it would come down to luck more than anything. SMs and Sorcs are pretty evenly matched 1 on 1.

SM because of the biger value on life returned on lifetap.
sm got 2 red dex debuffs in which sorc need to be body spec to get 2 red
sorc split spec got 1 yellow aoe dex debuff and the base line red dex debuff
if in any case u use the con debuff ur just so dead because he will cast alot faster than u if u consider that both got the same debuffs so same dex too
then the life returned will play the main role.

as mentioned above sm's pet got a stun proc.

Oh wow, another theoretical discussion.

The caster with the jump wins. A high RR caster will twoshot an other caster most of the time.

If you read the original post you will see the scenario. both see each other both in nuke range both see each others pets.

If they are both going to MOC anyway can't the SM just keep his pet next to him to negate the sorc pets melee attacks completely with perma intercept?

It doesnt work that way, it has a high intercept value, but it can and will miss, and if it does, the sm will get hit by a 600-700 damage strike + the drain of the sorc which quite possibly could kill him. Not worth the risk...not to mention when moc runs out the sorc has an automatic win if you have the sm pet at you.

As most have pointed out its a very even match, they are basically the same class in this scenario. Atleast if the sorc is damage specced. A standard splitspecced sorc would probably loose in the end, lower life returned and lower dex/qui debuff. The dps damage are really not an issue, the fact that one of the spells is a spec spell and the other a baseline is though. But if both have wp 5 and mom5 that will be almost negated...

Anyhow, if forced to say one, Id say the sm, but its really a toss of who gets the best crits/stunns in my opinion. A crit + the heavy hit from the pet can 2 almost 2shot one of them, and that might be hard to recover from.

Also the one who gets his pet to stun first wins ofc...so its pretty much the proverbial toss of a coin.

/Charmangle

ps. But as someone pointed out, the sorc will most likly have a DI bot standing around somewhere and sm will not, so that will give the win to the Sorc ds.

Errhhhhmmmm m8 spec lifetap delves LOWER than baseline sorc lt

but he get less life returned.

He has a choice of pet and they hit both alot harder than sm pets and he can have pet with 9 sec stun. so sorc should win.

Pure moc lt fight sm would win.

It probably depends on which type of pet the sorc has; a plain vanilla level 50 probably wouldn't be enough to make up the 30% difference on return from lifetap, whereas a weapon wielding pet possibly could make and even surpass the difference.

Unless the SM keeps the pet on passive and thereby completely destroys the ML9'ed Templar or whatever with 75%+ intercept.
You could argue about it for years and bring all kind of things in the picture to amplify one side or the other not to mention crits and resists etc etc.

SM has a stun proccing pet. But the sorc would mezz it.
The sorc should have a templar, which would make up for way more than the 30% difference in lt. ML9 templar on an SM hits hard!
Anyhow, templates, resists, luck, crits etc, it would be impossible to say something certain. But the ML9 pet that hits harder than the sorc nukes would make the difference imo.

Wont nuke faster, but will still win aye. (if you take into consideration both going for red DQ debuff)

higher lifetap damage, more lifetap return, and proccing/stunning pet.

The SM has a insta str/con debuff, Im sure the Sorc has a sutch too, but I dont remember if its castabel or insta.

Can be a thing that tip it ower to the SM, or if the sorc has an insta too, it evened out.
