Because... I didn't go to PvP expecting or assuming it would be about even con players in a 1on1?

To put it short, I go to PvP for excitement that RvR servers lack and the excitement value in 1on1 vs a friend is quite low and highly temporary.

Parlor trick, good practice/testing/logging tool, quick laugh, duels are nothing more.

You can't beat a send from someone telling you that you should announce your attacks before you attack on a pvp server.

PvP and dueling are completely different

It's like saying /duel will kill zerging in emain.

/duel is a fun thing to do with friends - no consequences

aha you're trying to provoke reasonable and sane debate on why you would want to try PvP over /duel? Bleedin eck, what would you wanna do that for?

well PvP is not organised, it's also more than 1 vs 1 (not sure if you can set up multiple person duels - doubt it), you can attack or be attacked anywhere, set ambushes, clever traps. It doesn't end with just the first death.

I'm of the opinion that the massive gank-squad (of 100-odd players) nature of PvP will disperse and drop to around the american server levels of players soon enough. For the next month or two we'll have huge populations and massive ganking on Camlann. We might do better due to there being more than two guilds trying to recruit everyone on the server and duke it out, but I'm not convinced

PvP server doesn't interest me in the slightest, thats not to say I don't think it has its good points, it certainly does have good points, being likely to draw away most of the so called l33t nobs being the best, but the /duel system seems alot more fun and challanging to me.

Personally I love the one on one duels, and being able to test your might against your realms finest is alot more appealing to my nature, but everyone is different.

not sure if you can set up multiple person duels

I don't think you can, yet, but thats certainly an intrigueing thought and could be fun if complicated.

but a pvp server fulfills a different role to what /duel does

I envisage it will be the same principal as it was in Everquest where you target the player you wish to dual and for them to agree first before any fighting is allowed, rather than simply being able to attack any fellow realm players without their consent - if this was your point. The PvP server is a little more complexed than just being able to fight all races and classes. There are other aspects too consider where all realms are accessable and guilds rather than realms hold relics.

well, PvP will be fun, if you log on to the server the very second it opens and never log on and lvl like a mad man so you're always red/purple to those assholes who like to stand at the bind stones and stalk you ...oh and make sure you ask mom and dad for extra money, cuz at lvl 10 when you turn off your flag (or before if you're stupid enough) you're really gonna need it to buy back con points every 5 min.

But on the other hand, if you're the big guy and you've got your lvls, then I wish you fun while you stalk the poor little guys who didn't have the game smarts enough to make sure they were the higher lvl.

Just my opinion on PvP
