What servers are you talking about? There's no Punkbuster on any of the public BarrysWorld servers.

I checked again on the day Styx did and they were fine. There must be days of changing configs or something. We'll see what's going on.

Due to a few changes in the database PB was disabled on a different setup. As you may have seen it's now re-enabled.

Half the time when I'm playing, I see "Punkbuster is in Distress" messages. Which indicates to me that it's not all that stable?

also on the picmip 10 (god knows who would use it) u dont see half the textures, this does not mean u can shoot through them. so the advantage is basically zip.

And u say about fps increase... well what do u think peeps use configs for?? yes thats right you guessed it... to increase fps

and the 2nd time i set it to 10

if this is changed to 10 on blueyonder i am kicked straight away.

look at the screenys from barrysworld the differences the picmip makes.

i DID NOT get kicked from barrysworld punkbuster enabled server with the setting at 10.

The advantage of r_picmip 10 is that the tree textures disappear, allowing you to see people behind the trees. For that reason, most competent admins, and most leagues, use PunkBuster to limit r_picmip to 5.

cg_bobup and most of the network cvars should also be restricted to prevent cheating.

Define "properly", because other ISP's might use more draconian settings, (if you don't know what that word means I suggest checking out http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=draconian). Just because BlueYonder use those settings doesn't mean ANY other ISP in the world has to. I'd also like to point out that a max picmip of 5 was the given standard in Quake 3.

So? You're playing on a public server? A public game is just for a laugh, run around, shoot people, hell, cap the docs or blow up the tower once in a while too. It's not about graphics settings or anything else, it's a place to have fun. To relax.

Picture 2 doesn't work. I'm disappointed. Ok, the trees are removed. So? WOW you can see through them! JOY! No one, and I mean NO ONE, should be stupid enough to play on such a low picmip. Picmip 5 looks awful enough as it is, (I've gone from 5 to 3 since playing RTCW).

As for the increase in framerate? I can do the same thing by typing com_maxfps 90. I'd also like to point out that a higher framerate IS A GOOD THING. Hell, seeing as the limit on BlueYonder is 2, why not go the whole hog. Set picmip to 100. THEN you can whine.

Point 1: BarrysWorld DO NOT cheat. I find it difficult to understand how the ISP can cheat, when it's not a person. Do the servers cheat? Do they suddenly decide that the docs should be elsewhere? No?

Point 2: We "can't admit it"? What's to admit?

Point 3: You have hereby made your own argument invalid by saying "screw u all". How old are you? 9? 10?

Point 4: "LAMERS". Not even going to go there.


One last thing. If you think we cheat because we use settings other than the default. I suggest that you stop playing online games, and go away and take up knitting, or perhaps something more active, like bear wrestling. Let us know what you decide on please. Modifying config settings has gone on for years, and it probably will do for quite some time. If you don't like it. Don't play. No ones forcing you to.

Well that is very informative. If you have issues with any of our servers, perhaps you should actually pass your concerns onto the relevant liaison for that game/mod. Failing that, submit a support query.
