I do have to say as an self contradiction to my PS3 bashing, I know I will end up buying one since I was spitting flames about the old Xbox for a long while because I already had a PS2.

There some games I just won't be able to go on without playing (Namely Final Fantasy 13).

And i'll have a WIi too, I ended up in the same situation in the last period where I ended up with a GC, Xbox and PS2, much like above, some games you cannot miss are exclusives on all consoles.

I just wub my 360, it's the sex.

Not the best in the world but none to shabby at all, drop the monitor, mouse keyboard etc if they arent needed and its even cheaper. This is the system I am suggesting to my tight arse mate so he can play CoD4 (he nearly wet his pants playing it on my PC) Obviously for a few more quid you could get a far better graphics card and such

Thought you said high end!? Thats surely MID at best.

Its also a little over £400 without the monitor, case, keyboard and mouse. Which most people have. As i said shop around and you can easily get a top PC cheaply I knocked that up in 5 minutes on Ebuyer.

I built a high end ish PC through work using reseller prices and not paying vat. I spent £600 i just do not think you could build a High End PC that cheap normally not if you went for optimal kit.

You can build a nice quad core system with 4gb of memory and a 8800GT graphics card for somewhere around £600 these days. That effectively buys a gaming rig that will be rock solid for 2 years and with a graphics card update after that 2 year period you will still have a very decent little machine. Quad core is where the value is right now and with the gaming development trend moving towards a multi-core requirement the quad core setups are going to have alot more legs than the dual cores.

I was trying to find something about ames using all 4 cores how long do you think till a game will take advantage of all 4 cores?

I guess now that there really is no real option other than getting at least 2 cores more and more games will use them properly, most use them both pretty effectively now. Its not just for gaming though, you can go into task manager and allocate programs for each core so you can be encoding video on one and gaming on another, I haven't really messed about with that side of things to be honest, I am happy to just let it run. I just fitted a high end sound card to mine too, which takes some of the load of the processor but again these are optional as the on board sound on most motherboards is more than enough.

The beauty of PCs is you can put what you like into the machine, assuming you have the money, with PC components getting cheaper and cheaper it can only get better for all forms of gaming.

You don't have to spend £400 on a graphics card, there is no real point most cards in the £100-150 bracket will do fine for the next year or so.

I just hope AMD and ATI pull their fingers out so we can have some good old competition like in the old days.

There are about a dozen out already and because console development is now multi-core orientated there will be a massive knockon effect for PC development in the next 12-18 months. The current games that support 4 cores are not yet taking full advantage of all 4 cores but that is because we are still so early in the multi-core games development era. That is changing rapidly though.

Played Halo 3 tonight for the first time, god awful game, looks ancient, not impressed at all. Virtua fighter was fun in its own way. the new pro evo was dire though, please don't tell me its like that on all platforms?

I was totally unimpressed by the new pro evo as well and yeah its shit one every platform. And i have said since i played it if Halo 3 did not have the word Halo in it that would be a flop. But the typical deffence comes out when a game sucks "Multiplayer Rocks" :p

DS or Wii must have won 2007 but we all know what really matters is who sells most in December in Japan and thats PS3 all the way baby :p

America is a far more valuable market, especially when attach rate comes into the equation. ;)

Personally between the consoles I think it depends what type of games you play,

If you want FPS, and sports related games I think the Xbox360 has it , but if your like me and like RPG's then its the PS3 all the same, the only sad thing is to get the best rpgs you have to import them from the US.

other thing is all the people I like who have Xbox360's have had to replace them at least once, and in once case 9 times a m8 has replaced his.

Playing fps games with anything other than a mouse makes baby Jesus cry..

Repeat that 50 times and you shall be saved!

Haven't tried yet BUT it seems you can play FPSs with keyboard and mouse on the 360.
