My cat hasnt been very well last couple of weeks so i took him to the vets yesterday. Vet told me he has tumour and they cant operate on it :(

All i can give him is painkillers to ease the pain and hope he isnt hurting too much

I know many of you wont understand, many people think fuck sake its only a cat but we are so close the second i walk in the door he is at it waiting for me, he sleeps on my lap all night and sleeps at the bottom of my bed. Whenever im in the house he never leaves my side

My heart is actually broken :(

Sad dude, did they say how long he has? You are going to have to prepare to have him put down at some stage, unfair to let him suffer.

That sucks. Have you tried more than one vet?

Thing his he doesnt seem in pain, he still seems his normal self only a little more tired and lost alot of weight.

Vet reckons if i can keep him eating he will live a little longer.

G i kinda thought it may be a tumour as i had a feel around his belly before taking him and could feel a lump there

That sucks man. Anyone who thinks youre being sad and melodramatic is a cock. As Ch3t said, you'll have to prepare yourself for the eventuality. Mnay years ago I had a cat who I raised from a kitten, loved him to bits but he got hit by a car and had to be put down, broke my heart too.

My cat went through the same mate, he was eating way more food than normal and became very chilled out, he used to love going outside but he started just sitting around the house, getting cuddles and strokes. I took him to the vet and he had a tumour in his belly.

They told me I had got it before it started causing him any distress and that the best cause of action would be to put him to sleep. I remember leaving the room without him balling my eyes out. Makes me upset now :(

Ethan Hunt, he's the one that's awake with his twin Victor

I´m allergic too, against dogs and horses are worst, but cats i have no problem with had two for over 20 years, then both had to be put down, on got cancer in the jaw, other had his ribs grown together. The thing about cats normally is it takes so long before they show that they are hurting. The one with the ribs grown together ran around like a kitting one evening playing around, in the morning he just would not get up just laying there looking sad, took him to the vet. :(

Ahh i'm sorry to hear that. If you've had a pet for several years of course you'll become attached so I agree with what you said.

both B2 and I were absolutely destraught when we have lost G/Pigs in the past; you all saw how bad it was when pookster died. Doesn't matter what it is if it's something you love it is equally upsetting when they die, I am so sorry sweetie.

When pookie was dying we took her to the vets and the vet was about to give her the injection but pook just slipped away on her own accord, we were both there with her and tbh I have to say as painful as it was it was also (don't take this wrong) nice to be there at the end, to be with her I mean, not that she died that was awful but all being there together.

Don't feel silly for loving your pets, they love you and don't feel as if you are over reacting, we all react in different ways.

I really am so sorry to hear about this, I don't know if this will help at all but you see all these messages we are all thinking of you

/hug

My deepest sympathy, Sparx. I know how much it hurts to see your cat/dog suffer. Give him a good time as long as he´s still ok and don´t miss the point where you should release him from his pain.

Sorry to hear that. We lost a cat last week, neighbour spilt a bottle of anti-freeze on his drive. It's pretty deadly stuff and cats love it because it tastes sweet. It wasn't nice, he was fitting and comatose by the time we found him.

Sorry to read this about your cat Sparx. Although not a fan of cats per se, the type of creature you are fond of is irrelevant - your feelings are real and important and its a big emotional loss when something happens to them. A colleague at work recently had his cats die within months of each other and he was distraught.

Only cat I ever really liked was one belonging to an ex, and that was a crazy little critter that acted like a puppy dog :D

Pretty much as Thorwyn says, make the most of the time you have. I hope the puddy-tat enjoys whatever time remains and that its suffering is not too great at the end.

Sorry Sparx, that sucks. My cat is 19 in June and she has been fine up until about 4 months ago, she has really slowed down and she cries alot if she doesn't know where i am. She has gone deaf so i cant call to her, i have to get up and go and find her so she knows i'm there

She woke me this morning with a wet nose in my eye at 5.30am, the minute she see's me stir she jumps on and off the bed waiting for me to get up and feed her

She's sat on my desk next to me, walking over my keyboard as i type this, cos i'm ignoring her

Allergy is no excuse!
I'm allergic to cats yet I've got 2 of them. As long as the house is well aired, I don't have too much of a problem (and I've got my asthma blaster if necessary). They're brother and sister from the same litter and we've had them since they were 4 months old.

The only sad story to tell is when Alice trapped her tail in an autoclosing door with 20kg of closing force. She screamed and struggled like mad in the 10 seconds it took to get to her. I opened the door and she hurtled across the hallway into the far wall. Her tail had a ring of red flesh exposed and was limp past the wound. We took her to the vet in the morning where we were told she had degloved part of her tail and damaged the nerves at that point. She had an operation that morning and lost half of her tail. She waddles when she walks now because she doesn't have a tail for balance.
It's funny to see. Sad, but funny. :)

Sorry to hear that. I've lost two cats, one to poison (which was very distressing) and one to old age. My current cat got hit by a car last year and broke his leg, was very distressed over that ... now I won't let him out.

Thinking of you and your lovely moggie.

Sorry to hear about that :(

My cat had to be put down a couple of years ago, she was older than me and had always been there so it was strange to not have her around any more.
