Yeah you can do that, at least you can with movies. Games might be a bit harder and you would probably have to clone the display and have it running on both.

Or set the projector up as the primary monitor.

Jon, I wasn't planning on sitting at my desk when looking at my screen :D
The couch is about 2m back, lying along the wall. The Projector will be above it.

Woohoo! It's here!

800x600 isn't really big enough for browsing the internet, but it's more than enough for movies. I think the shelf I have is too high, and I'm using maxiumum keystone setting :(
I will have to work out another shelf for when I get my PStwo, I doubt that will have settings to distort my display.

I can see each pixel, but they soon blend away when I'm watching a movie. The rainbow effect is 0%, unless I'm wiggling my eyes about - and that shit gets me dizzy. I don't plan on wiggling my eyes like that

The picture is 50 inches across, but it would be a bit bigger if I wasn't hammering the vertical keystone setting. I think I'm going to enjoy this toy. Photos to follow, but I have a crappy camera. Sorry.

It's all coming together! Looking good Clown, you might find the projector needs a fair bit of setting up - i suggest buying a calibration disc or in the short term, try the THX optimiser that comes with some THX certified DVDs.

It took me a lot of viewing to get it just right.

Great projector for the money, although personally i'm not a big fan of LCD projectors.

DLP has a far better contrast ratio than LCD and DLP, because of this blacks and dark areas are much deeper and better reproduced on a DLP projector. LCD can also suffer from dead pixels which is a real pisser.

Modern LCD's are a lot better than older ones, the older ones suffered badly from screen door effect (your one has something to smooth this out). LCD's are brighter than DLP projectors, but contrast ratio is far more important than brightness. Brightness might be important to you if you have a room that isn't blacked out or you can't control the ambient light level.

I'm about 2m away, and I get 50inches. This isn't max though because that picture is too big for my screen. I had to turn the zoom thing down.

That's where I'm lucky, I've got the perfect set up for a projector in my room, nice long projection range and a big empty wall to project on to :D

Given that they're normally 300 quid and I know some of you have teh H30 here's something that may interest some of you.

Unfortunately he doesn't say if its been used or not but for a tenner I'd imagine it's worth the risk (assuming it doesn't increase in price too much).

I second that, although Monsters inc (or indeed any modern animated film; finding nemo, shrek) would look good if you projected it onto a dirty wank rag.

LotR: TT / Matrix / Bladerunner are all good tests for black levels and dark scenes

Any difference between those and a short cable then?
