Help Problems with Windows Media Player

Just a quick question, I run WMP 11 and runs without problems but when I try to view videos embedded in websites that are using WMP it won't play, the player comes up and Connects up and it says 'ready' above the play button, but nothing happens. Get the problem in IE7 and FF3, can anyone help please, I am running Vista Ultimate.

go into ff3 preferances, click application and try changing the app that binded to .wmp files

That didn't seem to work, changed to real, VLc, Divx and it still didn't work. Normally wouldn't mind because most sites offer an alternative but I am getting more into Basketball Fiba and NBA but the NBA website only has WMP embedded with no alternatives, so I can't watch highlights etc. I tried D/L a plugin for Firefox that supposed to put the vid into an external program for viewing but it didn't work
