Hi all,
I have rescently started doing training again and i think i may have gone a bit overboard and damaged something.
I was stretching and when i tried to stand up my legs felt wobbly

My hip? just seems very unstable as if it cant hold the weight sometimes when i am walking/running, i feel the muscle above my knee working (tenses and feels "heavy") sometimes when i am walking/running

I have booked an appointment with the doctor for next week but i dont like going in and wasting their time, should i be concerned about this? or is this a common thing when you start up high intensity training again

you may well have over done it.

I was off Hapkido for only a week, went back tonight and already strainghed my right groin.

Doesnt take much to fuck up if you go from zero to a 100.

Could be any old shit, sometimes things go snap suddenly.

Although you simply could just have sore muscles, especially by the sound of feeling the quad working above the knee. I usually got that when weightlifting for legs.

What kind of training where you doing, impact cardio? Weight training? I have jelly legs from weight training, and I get it from doing cardio on bikes. If I had any muscle or joint problems while doing impact cardio like running then I would stop and rest for a few days, if the problem came back then I would get medical advice.

I did weight training on my calves (which were a bit weak in iscolation, but that went away overnight), I did do impact cardio the next day (4x 40m sprints with 30-40 second breaks)
i was stretching prior to a run the next day and my legs just turned to mush

I am actually beginning to think perhaps my calves are just really tierd and the rest is a result of that as i havent really had a chance to properly rest them because of work.
So I am going to postpone the doc visit to later next week resting as much as i can (although its not possible the next few days because of the damn tube strikes)

It sounds like you are not used to doing weight training on your legs -it does not always hurt the next day, the less you work out the longer your recovery time, so it may not have hit you for a couple of days. Then you tried to use your legs while they were trying to heal.

You should be fine in a day or two. If not then just see your GP, that is what they are there for.

Oh, and make sure you stretch properly, especially when doing legs, it will help a lot.

It's your age! you ned a hip replacement, a stair lift and one of those zimmerframes with wheels and a little shopping basket on the front STAT!!!

Nah, like tris said its pretty much a sure thing that when you begin exercise after a time off you are going to do yourself a mischief.

What the doc told me is this;

The acidy thingies(paraphrasing!) in your muscles haven't activated, so when they do when you FINALLY train, your muscles go "nu-uh" and stop working.

Normal, keep training, take it slower and if the problem persists, get to a doctor :D

I hope you are refering to yourself as a doctor. Because everyone prefers the doctor that prescribes whiskey rather than regular exercise.

I think Toht is the only person I'd go to after I've drank 2 bottles of Whisky tbh. Don't think a trained medical person would give me the right ideas of what to do :D
