Playing DAoC while waiting for CU?

But are most people on alb (my first instinct)? ie, which is most over/under populated realm?
Which is most likely to end up end-game rvr groups?

There are alot of people on alb at least. Theurg, caba and reaver are all good choice to start PvE with.

People are mostly all over the place, population really changes, last week when hibs got power relic instead of alb, like half the population just disappeared

if your comming to Uthgard Mid has a growing Camelot Unchained guild, lots of people lvling and very helpfull, think CU guilds are in the other realms too but from what i know Mid has the most active one atm!

I just can't go back to DAOC if it means giving EA money. I'm sometimes tempted by Uthgard but I think old-school leveling would make me crazy.

all 3 realms have Camelot Unchained guilds on Uthgard, Mid one is just the most active =)

On the free 14 day return offer a few months ago, legit DAOC was horrific. Basically 8 man stealth groups every fucking where. No idea about the proper 8v8. Seemed to be a couple of sieges but they were more 25+ vs guards.

I refuse to give any money to EA out of principle so I only played for a short time so I might have got unlucky.

Nah, live is really bad. Even with fg you sometimes would be roaming for hours and hardly finding any fights, except one gigantic zerg running around.

have 28 online atm on Mid in the Camelot Unchained guild, of all lvls =)

I'm not comfortable enough with mid to think I can level there tbh, I dont know the spots etc.
Hib or Alb it is, its just which one!!

Real old-school leveling is a mess. Might be better in group, definitly a nightmare solo. Last time i had some fun was for a couple of weeks getting back to DAoC playing Molvik and 50er Laby RvR and participating in the Caledonia event. Tried to get Uthgard set up but DAoC refuses to start -.-

Uthgard is a bit funny at times, you should run the portal in admin mode and let it do any additional patching, also only some GUIs work especially with windows 8, play with the atlantis gui first, make sure its stable, and then try looking through the uthgard forums for suitable GUIs. I am loving old style DAoC levelling, 8 man xp groups, spind and uppland levelling. The BGs are a bit mixed up but still good fun.

I have a healer (Delightful), hunter (Olwen), and skald (Slytely) on Uth right now but they are all teeny-tiny lowbies, and completely broke, lol. I am good with that, though...just trotting around in the zones seeking blues and listening to the "time of day" music gives me a happy sense of Zen-like calm.

Hoping to get some more time to play them now that I am no longer obsessively staring at the Kickstarter ticker 24/7, lol.

After poking, prodding, cursing and finally kicking my firewall into letting me get onto Uthgard I've been happily wandering around the Vale of Mularn all day, hitting things with hammers

So, who do I have to poke to get a guild invite (Midgard, obviously)?

well if any one is intrested there is a backers guild started on the uthgard free daoc surver theres a bunch of other backers there and its turning in to a nice group
any one whos backed the game is welcome we in mid by the way and it is a classic old frontiers

there is a Camelot Unchained backers guild on uthgard all backers are welcome theres around 20 + players in it atm you dont have to lvl solo we orginize groups for lvling including doden BGs for lvl 40-50
the up too 40 groups lvl in alot of the old world lvling area
you may have to do some soloing some times but we do get groups togeather the guild only started a cuple of weeks ago and weve got ppl holding there toons at 49 for the bgs
