rofl, daoc is the worst online rpg i've played, as i've said many times before. its aweful, people that think its honestly a decent game are absolute newbs to online gaming. the only game worse than it so far is earth & beyond, which isnt even a game, its just bad.

daoc is gonna wear itself out soon, i mean something like UO that lasted... god how many years, 7? 8?, is finally running out of puff. daoc isnt even in the same catagory as something like UO, so i dont think it'll be around for much longer than 2-3 years max.

I think he means Duke Nukem: Forever....

or Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project in that case it means DAoc died on its arse about a year and a half ago.

No, but plently of Terran Republic plebzergs, and enemy Reaver pilots that fly into mine while firing rockets.

Planetside is, imo, a good game. Sure it's not perfect, but what online game is? Certainly not DAoC.

The fun of it is, you don't have to level lots, you can get straight into the action, within minutes or maybe seconds of starting the game.

Yes, it's a FPS, but you don't have to shoot people ;) I'm a Galaxy (15 person dropship, including 1 vehicle up to tank in size) pilot, a combat engineer (put up turrets and mines etc) and an AMS (emergency bindpoint and supplies) driver. I rarely ever shoot anyone, yet I'm still doing OK on exp. My mines/turrets kill people, and I'm needed in a squad so I get exp from the squad.

I'm no fan of FPS normally, but this is just so fun without any hassle - you don't lose anything for dying, you don't have to buy equipment, you just have to be certified to use the equipment and the rest is your skill...

I'll shut up now, you don't need to hear this, but personally, I've retired (for now anyway) from DAoC for Planetside ;)

well when i meant.. beginning of the end.. i meant that daoc is facing tuff competittion regardless of u calling planetside a "tribes zerg" ...and swg..and wow... mythic are gonna have to do sumthing...

Sums up Planetside nicely.

Instant action, you gain xp as you go. Personally i luv doing Gal/ANT runs and other support roles.

I have also been on the B3ta and am finding it a welcome release from DAoC, sure its not perfect, but it is easy to play and a lot of fun.

Main advantage, no Fins ;)

well chi said planetside doesnt have an endgame and daoc has. I think if Ps has no endgame than daoc hasnt got one either tbh :p.

Character end, maybe, end-game, maybe not.

the point was:

the bandwagon "class" in PS is the TR DC MAX atm. and its not the one with missiles :p

but the 6 quid is for the server. and considering the server is hundreds of times bigger than any cs server/map,... surely its worth paying 6 quid to play on with hundreds of other people? it might be an fps.. but its a big fps.
