Right, obviously no one making music today is a total hermit, thus you are bound to hear a song and then later maybe let that influence your own creation (knowingly or unknowingly). But what happends when you actually release something like that? Some examples I can think of atm is:
Tom Petty - Mary Jane's Last Dance > Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Dani Carlifornia

Rammstein - Sonne > Fear Factory - Default Judgement
Salvatore Acquaviva - Ma Vie Fout L'camp > Madonna - Frozen
Totally unknown belgian rock musician sued Madonna for stealing four chords from his songs for her song Frozen. And the bizarre thing is that he won, and this resulted in a ban on Madonnas album Ray of Light in Belgium. Maybe the stealing of an riff explains why it's one of the few songs I can stand by her.
So, know any other examples of people being maybe abit too "inspired" when creating their music or questioning the examples I have given?
