Right, does anyone know of any good batch re-tagging software for mp3s?

Specifically for use for stripping out "(Original Mix)" from the titles, since if it's not the original mix it'll be stated and I hate seeing it. I've seen a couple of things in the past, but they're more batch renamers for files/tags based on files, and don't seem to have any options to strip certain text out.

Tried iTunes? I use that to do a lot of id3 tag renaming but I don't know if it can strip out chunks from the title field and leave the rest untouched in each individual tune. Worth a shot though (just don't do it on the originals :)).

I've used The Godfather in the past, it has some powerful tagging features, afaik it's free, but no idea if it meets your requirements.

mp3tag gets my vote too, it's easier than breathing.

To elaborate, it has very powerful replacing bits (Convert > Actions) that let you limit the replacement to any part of the tag or all of it, and let you replace anything with anything. I don't remember if the "replace" action group is there by default but you can click on the right to add an action type then specify what you want it to do.

Thanks! I actually have mp3tag already but had no idea how to do what I wanted it to do... I shall give this a crack. Cheers :D

Dude, I have just lost so much respect for you. Have you tired Itunes?? Why would you wish that on anybody?????

It's like saying have you tried riding an AIDS victim bareback? No I haven't, and I don't want the burden on the rest of my system that would result from such a despicable act.

Now go and wash your mouth out.

Heh, it did the job that I needed it to do and since I'm not a dribbling retard I'm able to install it without it taking over my system and causing shit loads of problems. It's not like I use it to play music or, well anything else really.

I agree Bods, Nath has gone all weird and hippy recently. The other day I told him I was having steak for tea and he tried to make me have rice and flowers instead

Tag & Rename was rubbish last time I used it a couple of years back.

The trick with mp3tag works a TREAT. Very versatile and powerful once you figure out the actions, can do anything you can think of. Top stuff.

And iTunes is the worst piece of mainstream popular software I think I've ever come across. It's even worse than Steam ffs ;)

I entirely concur, but the id3 tag editor is reasonably useful. I wasn't suggesting you use it for anything more than that :).

Tea is a beverage Trem, you northern poof :).

ID3 tag renaming is simple enough in Winamp, just a lot of Alt+3'ing. The media library is advanced enough to filter all the "Original Mix" tracks into one list however.

It's simple enough aye, but it can't batch process a load like mp3tag does. Time saving ftw.
