With a heavy heart I have made the decision that DAoC is no longer the game I loved playing 10 months ago and what little fun that remains eats too much of my time in the real world. For the last 6 months many of us have waited in hope of numerous fixes that would bring much more depth and balance to the game at all levels. Mythic partly succeded with that in creating Battlegrounds which can be a lot of fun and doesn't suffer from many of the issues that hinder full blown RvR. Before anyone throws mud let me say this, I am not leaving because my class got a nerf in the new patch infact we got a tiny bit of loving with regard to pets. I am leaving because although I have dozens of people I am proud to call friends playing this game, I can't see this game ever being what I want or expected it to be all those months ago when I started playing.
For anyone thinking about leaving this game the one thing that keeps you coming back is your friends and guildmates, the problem with that is the huge amount of time you invest just to chat to people you get on with. You end up playing for the people not the game and in the long run that is not healthly or wise because so much time passes you by whilst you are playing and even then you are not actually enjoying the play itself, the only pleasure is reading the lines of text people are typing in.
So, as many others have done it is my turn to bid you all, enemies and friends alike a fond farewell. I have had some fantastic times in this game and met some people I will remember fondly for years to come. I will even miss Azal who has harrased me constantly with various weapons for many months
I have argued with a number of people but I never take any of it personally and I hope you didn't think too badly of me just because I get hot-headed at times, hell on a few occasions even my guildmates got both barrels
I could go on forever saying goodbye numerous people and guilds but if you know me pretty well then you know I am saying all of this to you anyway. The Dragon Senate and all the spacescum that came to play DAoC with me from our old game Jumpgate I salute and hopefully we will link up again sometime somewhere.
My account runs till the 3rd December and I have agreed to try out PvP with a few friends but unless it is better than I could hope for then 3rd December will be gameover for me. Either way cHodAX the Theurgist is retiring, I will be around occasionaly over the next few week to tidy things up and try help a few friends before I go, I will try say farewells to as many people as possible but if you were expecting a /send and don't get one then forgive me as things might be a bit chaotic and you can always /send me
