I have been thinking about a optimal Thane BG spec.

21 Hammer
13 Shield
22 Stormcalling

Anyone got any suggestions on my spec.

STFU! Thanes own skald anytime. I deleted my skald to get a Thane.

Thanes are a really bad RvR class, their nukes can only break mezz and make people laugh at the pathetic damage you do. You'll find out.

Thanes is by far the most cool class you could play.

Pfft I meleed a NS with my hunter after he PA'd me, had 35% hp left when he died, we both were lvl 24 btw ;)

And to an average NS I do about 300-500+ damage per hit, thats more then 20% I assume :)
Ok I might be gimped, I might have a gimpy spec, but atleast I know how to play it.

You have melee'd one down? How many did you lose against? The other 20? I'm not talking about rare situations, but about the average.

Can you prove this? Honestly, 300-500+ damage is just ridiculess, that's the kind of damage a Hibernian pure caster hits for. So how come lots of thanes are crying for some loving when they're actually overpowered? :p

And you say you are maybe gimped? So un-gimped thanes hit even harder? Yeah right.. ;)

Hammers 19+5
stormcalling 23+1
rest in parry

yeah people call you a mezzbreaker
yeah people say your bolts are gimped
yeah people say roll a skald instead

but in keep defence/offence they will love you simply because you can take out archers etc on the keep walls without being 3 shotted by bowmen etc.....
and when your mana is dry hey! you can always help bash the door in...

and there's nothing more annoying that someone mashing teh hammers on a bunch of enemies....the lag is killer :)

Not saying Thanes can't be fun to play or can't take out archers, nor do I know how they are at level 50, but in BG they never seemed to do any nice damage ;)

And since albs own the keep there's not much defending to do either :(

BG-Power

If you're going for a true BG char and will delete him after reaching the cap, you'd be good off with a 2h/sc/parry Thane with
something like 15 parry, 20 Weapon and 22 stormcalling (best AE for a bg-spec, mjolnirs rock when trying to piss of people). ;)

However, if you're going to play him to higher lvls you'd be better off with 1h/shieldspecc because of the defence and slam @ 42 shield.

At 50 a good Thane would be something like this:
44 Weapon
42 Shield
46 Stormcalling

Then you'll have a good weaponspecc, slam for that nice shield-stun and good damage output with 9dps damageadd.
Using Dragon Etched and Twilight-mail items from 40+ would let you come close to your cap on stats.

Thanes are known for their low amount of hps and go down fairly easy, but it's all a matter of how you play your class.

only good thing about thanes are their CC ability to freeze the screen for people with low end pc's

Churn in a few mjolnirs, and those who stand still are the ones who can hear the hammers falling with a screen that isn't moving.

Besides, hammers are cool, even if they are utterly shite in RvR

Looks > Damage

Can you share that pic of the cleric with all of us then? ;)

FYI a level 50 thane hit me, a level 41 nightshade, for 200 damage so I'm not convinced they usually hit for 300ish damage at all :p
