I have a friend in the US
His computer science lecturer told his class that any one who hacked in to the computers and raised their grade could keep it.
As they obviously deserved it.
Then he told them all the levels of security they'd have to get past and why it was impossible.

Oh i almost forgot...

Got a friend who used to teach in America. He quit after 6 months because of the hypocrisy.

All the kids in his class did an exam and he marked them accordingly. A couple of days later he got pulled in by the school principle - got a bollocking because they didn't all get an "A".

He was told to re-grade them and give them all A's. When he said that he wouldn't do that it was insinuated that it must have been his fault for not teaching them properly.

He quit because the american style of schooling is to build up the kids confidence massively - and their self-belief takes them through life - not any particular aptitude at anything.

Grrrrr. The thick fuckers.....

That is fairly true.

The American Education system gives them a large amount of confidence/arrogance.

Unfortunately, excessive confidence/arrogance seems to be part of "The American Way". How else could George Bush ever have become President?

Very simple.

His brother bans 8k Blacks of whom 90% vote for Gore from the florida election deliberately, and his friends on the Supreme Court stop a recount.

Add to that the fact that Gore got a half million more votes than Bush in total, and you'll see why I find calling America a democracy a fucking joke.

Democracy is a fucking shambles atm, due to lack of interest by 90% of people because it doesnt matter who you vote for.

They differ on maybe 5-10% of things.

Whats the fucking point!

What's the point in voting when there's no one worth voting for?

It seems alot of people share my viewpoint

You have Tony Bu.... Blair

Charles "I have no strong opinion on any matter" Kennedy

IDS.... WHO THE FUCK IS IDS???? a nobody... a nothing...

OR you could vote for a statistically insignificant party...

Jeez spoiled for choice.

This is not new. Nixon won his election by sabotaging the Vietnam peace conference, to deliberately embarass Lyndon Johnson's campaign. Nixon won by about 100,000 votes, and at the cost of a further 20,000 US marines, not to mention the related casualties.

This says it all. You shouldn't be voting for a party at the next general election, you should be voting for the best person in your region to represent you in parliament. If you're dissatisfied with British politics, then vote for an independant!

Its true the U.S does have a lot of problems mianly due to their arrogance and over-confidence, which has roots in thier educational system.

The British educational system tends to tell the kids pure facts, but it seems the American educational system tends to blur the facts to make the US look better, for example WW2 this chap in America I talk to didn't know anything about the Afican campaign all he though was that US and UK forces invaded Italy then France and Soviet forces completely destroyed Berlin, and US forces had a small war against Japan.

I feel that the current political system has been fucked with so much that it is too flawed to be called democratic but I couldn't tell you what should be done to remedy matters. :(

PR is a good IMHO. :D

Proportional representation. And force people to vote (well, not at gunpoint or anything, but no vote = no benefits that week. They'd flock to the fucking polling stations).

Having said that, the vast majority of the people in this country are too stupid and ignorant to deserve a vote, so it should be heavily restricted to those who can pass a test proving they have even half a fucking clue.
