Solid not saying people who use buffbots for pve are cowards.. just those who take them to the rvr arena. Yes buffbots, in pve can be a good advantage to a group providing buffs or end regen buffs, when a shaman is not available. Or helping you farm some seals or have some fun, when its to quiet to do it normally. Nothing wrong with that, you want to spend 8 hours farming for a Band of Ice for example, and need the help of a shammy to do it, and don't want to bore some poor sod to death doing it, the good on the shammybot. You want to go rvr, and test your skill against your fellow players leave shammybot at home is what I'm getting at. I too have 2 accounts. but have no shaman/healer amongst them. Midgard is one of the higher populated realms, of course you are going to see more SBs and Shammies - there are the least number of character classes to choose from. However, on the whole its true. Buffbots and SBs agogo everywhere.

Regardless of what some hibs might think i do not have a buffbot, but at the same time if i'm offered buffs from a groups buffbot i wont turn them down... afterall there are really not that many clerics in RvR atm and it is not uncommon to be in a group without one.

Ive often been in the frontiers with my SB, unbuffed, as i havent got a shammie, you will get even fights, and many of them, and then theres the fights where you never see another lvl 50 player take damage, which normally means they are buffbotted.
After trying to get past lyonshade/rambo the 10th time at mmg, i bought a second and are currently making a buffbot.
Im not sure who started the trend, neither do i care, both albion and midgard uses buffbots at a wide extent. Hibernia uses it as well, but you dont see that many assasins in the frontiers, thus less being buffed, but it is still the same percent of them being buffed as it is with SBs and infils.

I feel like Emma too, i got a bad taste in my mouth killing a person not being buffed, with myself being buffed to the teeth (yeah, ive sometimes borrowed buffs), and i feel bad for them.

Hello all, my first post here. Just to say I’m part agreed with Blaein, Durgi and Generic Poster. I don’t have a buffbot and I don’t want one. Indeed I think buffbots are part of a problem and I don’t want to be part of it. I prefer to go solo but if I’m in a group, I don’t say no to the buffs. As I don’t mind when my enemies are buffed as part of a group. But I find quite unfair one-on-one encounters when my opponents are heavily buffed (and I’m not talking about self-buffs). And yes is so satisfying when you see the buffs of your opponents gone when they fell. I don’t mind to die in a good fight. I enjoy good fights whatever win or lose. But when you lose solo encounters against buffed opponents, I think most of the credit is at PK and not on the battlefield. To have a buffbot or not is your choice. If you want to try to win against opponents that are in advantage is your call. If you want to win at any cost, well it is up to you. This is a game and as in any game some people just can’t stand to lose. To finish I just have to say I seen Durgi and another lv 50 SB (I don’t remember his name) fell attacking Beno and they were not buffed. /salute

... if they lack skill, of course.

As it is now, while Assassins still can get IP, there's few classes they cannot beat if the starting conditions are the same.
Like no buffs, both IP (not) up etc...

Sorry Bubble, that statement is false talk to the countless Paladins, armsmen, Mercs, Friars, Mages (ALL types) Clerics, Scouts, Inf's I kill in sauvage almost everyday. I use neither a buffbot, or buff potions to achieve this. the assassin, is in no way weaker than other classes.

As I understand, very few go in RvR to "test their skills", rather "ph4rm rps!!11" - so why shouldn't they use buffbots if it makes their task easier?

This is a Online game in a online game your supposed to work togther, and if you work toghter and use your realm mates abilities your gonna have an advantage against ohters, i See enchanters standing in ligen everyday buffing people with damage add before they run out, now becuase of that those people will have a slight advantage...Now, what do you care if that where a player or a socalled "bot" its not like the fight would have changed in anyway. If your going out solo be prepared to meet forces greater than you, be it more players or a uberbuffed player, thats the thing about online games, you use your mates abilities.
You talk about pride lol, well for me its about fun, and i cant have fun when getting killed every 2 sec, so lucky for me i had my old druid on my gfs account and im useing him to buff me, if i didnt have the druid i would prolly have rerolled another more tank heavy char but im a damm slow leveler (yes i actually started my shade before many of you knew about daoc!!)

And the problem seems to piss you off bigtime becuase you made so many replys about it, so you now got 2 choices, you can swallow your pride (lol) and make a buffbot and start haveing fun again or you can continue to be pissed off and eventually quit becuase the game sucks for you. Becuase one thing is for sure mythic are not gonna do anything to prevent it.

thats prolly because SB`s are one of 10 classes available in mid that actually not gimped..

Hunter/Thane/Warrior are gimped classes for RvR.

thanes have low hp and there primary offense there spells are on a timer :/ unless they use mjollnir (mezz breaker elite)

Hunter shortest bow range, worst melee style line around and a useless specline beastcraft

Warrior great defense for PvE which does sod all in RvR and again no true offensive spec.

So i can understand why people roll SB`s, and no doubt those numbers will drop alot when 1.57 arrives.

Warriors and thanes are midgards slam class

Warriors are like more defensive armsmen, thanes are like...well...they...err.....okay the top melee mid on the server is a thane

If all you warriors and thanes made assasins this would upset midgards RvR balance(like when smite clerics were nurfed...albion lost its only healers)


had a 35 warriro on pellinor and loved it(stood with guard on a zerker charging Caledonia keep and killed 4 shocked albs before the could run from the 2 of us )

i'd rather quit that use a buffbot and the number of assasins in daoc sucks if id known id never have made one only did because wardens and nightshades were sposed to be most needed classes when i started... to use a buffbot admits that your character must be gimped in some way or u just want to be 1337 at all costs im not saying i hate all buff bot users im saying using a buffbot is a pathetic thing to do.. and people say oh but others use them so i have to as well... BS people say this but by using a buffbot yourself your encouraging others both your realm because they see you do well and other realms because people will get so frustrated they give up and make one and fyi afaik only 1 nightshade on top 10 list uses a buffbot and assasins can kill most classes without a buffbot afaik ive beaten every class solo numerous times not saying that i expect to win every fight obviously not but its possible and i dont have any sc gear yet as too lazy conclusion seems to suggest that nightshades are horrifically overpowered compared to sbs/infiltrators err right rambled on a bit flame away or whatever but buffbotting just ruins the game for other players and is a waste of time and money imo

Lots of people use them, yes.
Why do they do it? Because they want to RvR on equal or slightly higher ground than everyone else.



Reasons not to have a buffbot:

A: it makes the game challenging
B: Its cheaper
C: It is a special feeling you get, when you kill an opponent, and you are spammed by buffs dropping, while you look at your clean sheet.


point A is the most important for me. I dont solo much, because it bores me. Instead, i go with other people that feels the same, and we've often been splattered senseless. But if we put up a good fight, and take out a few opponents as well, its well worth it.

Do i accept buffs from a bot? no. i cancel them, if they buff me anyways. I'm proud of my lack of buffbotness. If you want to use it, fine. Makes you more of a challenge to take on

Not really, for me anyway... I have a shaman on my brothers account... only usable late nights and weekends, nice for PvE, but in RvR, I die when I die, and buffs won't save me 9/10 times.
Still, he's usually parked in DF, or Raumarik, when logged on

Nope Bubble, I'm not a malmo Kobbie, I made hardly any xp in malmo, I soloed most of my xp post lvl40 in spind.
