Weather has just broke here; massive thunderstorm going on over Dublin right now.

Internet went bang as well - on 4G now.
Love a thunderstorm :)

Of course. I've had to buy a generator because of them - so if it's with you, I may take the opportunity to wheel it out back...

I am fucking melting in my office. Can't even open the windows as that makes it worse.

Considering running 3DMark on my gaming machine constantly as the warm air it generates is probably still cooler than the ambient air :/

Definitely not gaming atm. My water cooling throws out some serious heat.

Fucking melting. Balls have decided to permanently stick to my inner thighs. According to phone it's 39C. Windows on car wound down to keep it "cool". Am seriously going to consider permanent aircon now for the bedroom and lounge.

How long can a body survive when the ambient temperature is above 38C?

Guess it depends if you are acclimatised? For me, not very long.

But your body needs to maintain 38C to live. I know it can warm itself above the ambient temperature but can it cool itself below it? Does it have AC built in at all?

Sweat baby, sweat.

I might just have a shower every 10 mins.

I know it's a shame. Miss the geezer. Anyway, back to fucking merging with the sofa. Reminds me of The Thing, merging with shit.

Pretty much indefinitely as long as we have access to water. We sweat very efficiently and that's a fantastic coolant.

Only downside is if the air is at 100% humidity - makes sweating less effective.

Nice and cool here now. Gentle rain. Part of @DaGaffer's thundercloud system (sans thunder) - it's lowered the temperature a treat. :)

I'm actually installing insulation at the moment, bit of a co-incidence. 40mm foam insulation backed plasterboard. When this room is done it should be a few degrees warmer and should lower my heating bills a bit. Helps counter the inevitable price cap rises coming.

I've had some good success today keeping the heat out of the house by sticking sheets of tin foil to the outside of the sun-facing windows. Reflect a lot of the sun's infra red radiation straight back out into the garden rather than letting it in the house.

I think if this level of heat is predicted next year then I will certainly install permanent AC. I reckon I can do it myself.

I was looking at AC but the running costs are pretty high.
