Hey, recently purchased a used nvidia 240. Gainward I think. Anyways, after I boot into linux or windows the desktop on my DVI monitor is flickering left and right with some horizontal lines, and every couple of seconds the screen turns off and on. This last for a minute or two, then it completely disappears and everything is running beautifully. Games and so on are working.

I don't know if its a PSU problem, but ive only got a 45w tpd CPU and two harddisks in my computer which is run by a 380W PSU.

think the safest bet is that the PSU isn't up to the challenge, i'd recommend getting at least a 550W.

if that isn't helping then its probably the grafics card.

Well its a special small cabinet with only room for a small size psu, dunno if I can find one that fits, but its odd since works fine after just a minute or two...

Your PC needs the most power at initial bootup. So it does sound like your PSU isn't up to it.
