Doesn't look to me like Mythic don't allow the device when they advise on the correct method of patching with it installed.

using the nostromo game pad with 1 key mapped to 1 key on your keyboard is fine

using it to macro is not.

tbh muy i can do that without having it macros to 1 button, its just intelligent QB design and use of /qbind. I feel that your just bitter at hibs in generaly for having baseline stun when your a gimp with 2 spells to your name.

This really doesn't tend to work. Nice in theory but useless in practice.

To program a Nostromo to perform multiple commands at a single buttonpress requires you to specify a delay between the execution of each keystroke. Might work for crafting, but goes tits up when playing in the world of lag we know all too well. In a perfect gaming world where time delays were regular and guaranteed, then the Nostromo could be used in the way you described. I doubt, however, that it could be used in DAoC under current playing conditions in this way.

Personally, I just use it in combination with /qbind to remove needing 5 or more active quick bars. I hated having to use a slot for a QB macro, and equally hated scrolling. Nostromo means I now don't have to change quickbars.

Some classes might get no use out of the product. Classes that need alot of qb space i.e. Reavers, Mincers, Valewalkers, Savages et al benefit from a device like this.

Using Nostromo T52 in the last 2 months.
EXCELLENT device.
Could not play without it anymore.

Just a few comments:
1) For RvR you just have every single key and every QB ready at the right place on the left hand
2) The right hand will be free to be used for mouse and pointing
3) Even more effective now in combination of the /qbind command
4) That will require at least 2-3 hour to program keys and 2-3 days of testing and tuning
5) You can do small useful macroes (I really hope that they are not against CoC, opinions welcomed) like having /face /stick in a sigle key or casting 3 resist spells in a single key for druid/wardens.

The only side effect I dont like is that you play with left hand over nostromo and right hand on mouse.... and so you usually become more silent during runs. (But people always say I talk too much so np )

P.S. This has anything to do with mocroing for crafting. OFC you can program it for doing anything but nothing different from what you can do with a normal programmable keybord or just setting a delay on key repress and dropping an object on the key.... is not the device that is against CoC, is how you use it.

P.P.S. I bought it from Amazon.us. At the beginning that was NOT working with non english windows XP versions. Excellent Belkin support anyway. They sent me by e-mail the italian patch after a few weeks. Now I think is downloadable for every international version from belkin.com.

I find I have more keys at my disposal anyway if I just use edsf for moving...

I think the point made by Vasconcelos was that Fedaykin merely asked about a perfectly legal, viable and useful device. At no point did he mention afk crafting. The first reply, from a GOA GM, was unnecessary.

second note: comment to the note on the site about deloading the loader etc...
it is commonly known to ppl that before installing a program all interfearing background programs should be disabled. Just in case there could be possible error or conflict can occure while installing something. This could cause further problems for the game.



personel thought:

lazyness is the pillow of the devil.
It is a human trait that all ppl will search for maximum comfert in whatever environment they are. Be it in real life or in a hobby.

Ok , the game may not be perfect in some ways, controller wise or something like that. But i think the skinn mod addition is a good exemple that they are working on things, this to make em smoother and better. This without giving UNFAIR benefits to ppl that don't use third party apps or hardware.
Cheating can be done in a million ways... i only wonder why ppl even started playing a game, be it DAOC or some other game. Is it to modify it to their convenience, or is it to experience the programmed stuff as it is given?

Also personally i think most ppl are pretty stupid. We live in a Kapitalistic society, all is based upon cash and that stuf.... and still we have those idiotic coders , hardware modders and stuff messing around with everything they find for FREE. Now that is what i call retarded idiocy. Make a job out of it, earn cash, at least you will have some use in society.

It basically removes the need to switch qbars if you are the type of player who likes to use all the tools available to his class.

It just makes life easier. It won't suit everyone, but is nice if you do take the time to master it.

You cannot legislate against a device just because some people might use it illegally. Would you ban cars because some people might drink and drive?

Better ban keyboards too I hear they can be used to run macros for crafting as well.....

yes skill, you have got a point in that last sentence...

abuse of things... that is your point.
but how can they know if you abuse it or not. I don't think we can count on the honesty of youngsters/adults in this matter. And to expect that a firm will put a 24h watchdog on the server to check for it is surreal.
that is the reason why i "think" (because it has not been confirmed from the source yet) they say it can not be used. Just to avoid the "evil" users of getting their way.
Let's say tha tthe good guys get punsihed for the bad deed of the others ;-)

...erm... this post slightly deviating?

Nostromo is a device that allow you to rebind/remap/replace/reprogram keyboard keys with left-handend-minikeyboard keys.

It has 15 bindable keys, a wheel and a sort of joypad all easily usable with the left hand due to an extremely well configured ergonomic design.
It allows people to have all the useful daoc keys close together and very quickly pressable with the left hand.

I am totally missing what links that with afk-macroing/cheating.

Cheating or afk macroing is/can be done in very different ways with any kind of keybord/program.

What defines "cheating" is the use you make of any device against CoC.

Rebinding keys is not against CoC (now there is a /qbind command too so the ergonomy of the nostromo has become more important than its binding capability)

The ONLY doubt I have about the use of nostromo is if it is allowed to bind 2 keys to the same nostromo key.
I.E. tipycally have the "/face /stick" keys associated to the same nostromo key.

An official feedback from a GOA representative about this point would be more than welcome (hopefully a smarter and more intelligent replay than the one the first GM gave... he didnt even seem to have read the original post)

Saw a Bonedancer once with his pets on stay in a pop spot the bd himself was casting dmg add every 5 mins or something cant remember exact time.
he stod at the exact same spot the day after when i passt him again Casting his cute dmg add.
Think it sucks bigtime that ppl uses these programms when other ppl work hard, and i surely hope u all get banned for it.
