I can (just about) put up with all the girly, poncy, noncy guff that's part and parcel of the new Doctor Who but casting seems to have hit the fan.

I mean, it's nice seeing a scantily dressed Kylie most of the time but I can't see how she's going to add to the Christmas special. Same with Tate and the whole series.

She is a shit comedian but surprisingly, a good actress.

Watched a few of her dramas that were on tv not so long ago, she seemed ok.

But after Billie Piper, why would the Doctor want to settle for a piece of mutton when he can choose the best lamb ?

Personally, I would like to see Shiela from Shameless as the Companion, that would be quality viewing. Seeing the doctor get chased by a sword wielding nympho = priceless!

Can't stand the women as a comedian, but I did watch Starter for 10 the other day and she wasn't to bad in that as a straight actor.

Unfortunatley, if the character picked up by The Doctor is to be the same one as the Christmas special last year, then God help us. That was a fucking terrible episode.

Some of the new Doctor Who episodes have been fantastic. The two parter where he became human was just fantastic and I really enjoyed seeing John Simm get his teeth into The Master role.

However, I still find myself cringing on a regular basis, especially when sloppy script writing means that The Doctor is sure to solve almost any problem with that bloody Sonic Screwdriver.

Daleks chasing you down? Don't worry, shoot them with the Sonic Screwdriver.

Chained to a post with no way out? Don't worry, the Sonic Screwdriver will pick those locks.

Touch of thursh there Martha? Fear not, the Sonic Screwdriver will cure all.

I'll give it one or two episodes with Tate, but I fear I shall not be returning much after that

Catherine Tate is an irritating duracell fucking mong and I would rather inject myself with botulism than watch 13 episodes with that **** in it.

Got to admit, I was one of the raging fanbois after that last episode; RTD should be kept the hell away from writing duties coz he's shite, and there's no bigger sign of bad writing in SF than using the 'reset' button. And don't get me started on the Superman/Jedi/Flash Gordon stuff.

The world rotating backwards effect - straight rip from the Superman The Motion Picture. It was shit in that as well. Personally I also thought Gallifray looked a bit shonky (all I could think of was another Superman reference, the bottle city of Kandor, but then I am a comics geek ), but I undertand the Whovians actually liked that bit.

Ah so that's Tate (yes damini, i always come back *queu dramatic music and flash of lightning* ).

Well, guess you have to be UK(or know her) to think she's something or other right off the bat, 'cause i thought she was more towards the old style of Doctor Who. Outlook and manner wise.

Took me quite a while to get used to Rose originally and that new...whatshernamenursegirlie(brainfart)...but yes, the runnaway bride is rather working, for me, as a companion. Like i said, it's more of that classical style.

Since i can only comment really on looks and the one episode, it takes time to get to know these new faces and accustom to them. So, time will tell really. I really don't care for the sidekicks, would prefer rose back 'cause she was a bit as nuts as the Doc, but, what can you do.
