Hi yall. Just wondering if any of you guys own a nintendo wii. I'm thinking of buying one for myself as i've heard there worth the money and a real good laugh.

Thought i'd ask for your oppinions before buying one.

Depends how into gaming you are i supose...if your a bit hardcore like us lot then you might prefer something else but its great fun if you want to play it now and again mostly with friends....i only tried it recently myslef but got abit bored of it after about an hour

The Wii is the very casual gamer's choice. It's a partygame system basicly. Want some oompf for your buck, gaming wize, go PS3 or 360

If you are not that into gaming, you can probably have some fun with Wii sports and Wii play.

Yeah thats why i want one. my bf and brother own a xbox 360 and spend all day on them when they can. I really dont see the interest tbh.

And as i'm sure Reece would enjoy that as he's so interested in hugh's erection lol. Do you know if they do that game for 360 were thinking of getting that also to play on my brothers xbox- when its free.

Is it worth the money if your friends and yourself are happy using a controller? No, not really as you have an XBox


It is fun for a while but they seem to have ignored the whole nunchuck concept and are bringing out controllers for their "family" releases nowdays so i am beginning to find it increasingly hard to justify the cost.
examples;
Guitar Hero 3 (req) - £45 to 50 (same on all consoles)
Wii Dance Mat (Req) - £60 to 80

But that said there are some games which are great fun if you do decide to get one i would definitely get Mario Kart and Smash Bro's

I have one but it sits unused for the most part unless i have friends around

...thought i'd say something against it eh?! It's a good idea, but rockband is a bit costly. You can get the earlier guitar heros for a lot less, they go cheap especially used, and yes, girls like it alot.

It's not gaming per say, but gives the satisfaction of having something big and long in your hand.

No wait...i meant...having something fun to do!

Best investment ever if you wanna have fun with friends. It's ok for some single player games (I like Zelda), but before everything else it's a friend-console. Wii Play isn't so good imho, but Sports, Party and M&S Olympics are really great fun. Next game I'm gonna buy is Smash Bros, most definately =)

It's really not like any other console, but if you say you don't like the 360 much, then you should really have a look at the Wii. I bought mine on e-bay and I payed a lot less than in stores (plus I got a controller+nunchuk+cable )

I own one. Controls are f*cking annoying because most game developers feels that they HAVE to use some kind of fucking fucked up control system just because they can. Noo we can´t just stick to original steering, that would be too obvious!! So my advice is, trick some of your friends to buy it, and buy a Ps3 yourself.

My pet peeve with the WII and the developers, they HAVE to do something special with it.

Just like with, hell, Nintendo DS, just HAVE to use the stylus or it's "not a good title".

That's like saying "We can't have single player games on the PC 'cause there's the internet!"

Wii is a great console if you have your friends round often & they have a sense of humour.

Wii is a great dump a few hours every now and then console, and I guess it's very friendly for newcomers to gaming and if you are interested in getting into the culture I think it's a good safe bet.

That said, in the long run you are probably better off with a 360/Ps3, because eventually those simplistic games will most likely grow boring and you'll want more - which the Wii with its sadly outdated graphic system and awful controls(for anything non Wii-ish) is just simply put bad at, while the 360/Ps3 has basically unlimited amounts of games to try without the need to spend extreme amounts of money on having to pay for all the acessories.

I'd say if your brothers already have a 360, give it a shot with any game you find interesting in their stack and go from there, just give it an honest try and not an 10 minutes one before deciding it sucks, and then go from there. I also heard X-Box Live has alot of Arcade games worth checking out, could ask beforementioned brothers to show you some.

Strangely enough the Gimmick control feature opens up the gaming world to thousands. The Wii gives people the feeling of actually not just sitting in your room with your girlfriend fingering her own ass while you sit with your (insert any other console)

People feel involved because generally you are moving around while playing Wii.
Graphically it matters not, Mario Kart would be shit with super de dooper graphics.

For Zelda you just need the Remote and the Nunchuk and I think the game itself is rather nice. The commands are rather intuitive and even though it makes you smack the air to hit with your sword, you don't have to spin around and remember 20 combos to fight =)

I'm not too far into the game atm (killed first boss and did the wolf -> human morph again), but what I saw now mostly made sense (yes you DO have to run around and try different things to win, but that's part of the fun =) ).
