Apparently pricing on the new slim PS3 is $299 US and €299 in europe.

What price we get in the UK I don't know but if you buy in euros that equates to
$423.

We are still talking about unconfirmed stories are we not? I do not know why you guys are surprised though, every console manufacturer does this. The new smaller slimmer model always costs more even though productions costs are less. The stock of the old ps3 should get some good reductions though.

UK Price is £250 quite converts to $411 which means we're paying an extra £67.50 over the US price so we get our shit pushed in too, just not quite as far as our european brothers.

Because PS3 games are region free, so it's fine to import a US or Japanese console for a much cheaper price.

I'd much rather pay £182 quid for a PS3 than £250.

BTW main reason we get fucked is pure and simple VAT.
US doesn't use it although some states levy sales tax but it adds around £45 to the price of our PS3s.

No idea on import taxes on electronics. Obviously if I get a friend to send me one as a gift I'm not sure if I'd have to pay taxes or not and I'd pay them online.

Only problem with importing is that BD's are region coded so you would have to import all your films as well.

I know somebody who imported the 360 on the release day in the US he got got something £100 slapped on import tax etc was ridiculous.

Slim PS3 has no PS2 support currently.

I have been hit hard when importing stuff UPS are arse holes for it they charged me £28 for a £40 game £7 VAT and a £15 handling fee so you can get hit fairly hard.

I have just agreed to sell by release day PS3 to a mate who wants backward compatibility for £150 so a new ps3 will cost me £100

I like my full fat PS3. It's a great big hulking man's console, and looks ace standing vertically next to the telly. As mentioned, the Spiderman font is also ace. As for the prices? Meh. UK in paying more than the US shocker I guess.

It's still a pretty good deal if you look at what you get for the money, and there are far more games for it than the keyboard warriors would have you believe.

I'm just gutted they didn't announce the release date for GT5. Damn you Tokyo Game show for being in September. I can't wait for another month to find out it's out in December.
