I hate formatting, so I'll buy a new PC.

Shh, no one asked for your input. And its not an entire PC, being a spanner you didn't realise that though.

As for formatting that was a waste of time as I thought it would be, still getting WoW FPS loss despite settings not being maxed out. I'll try the SSD next but my money is on the ram/motherboard.

Hmmm, checked CPU/GPU temps? One of them isn't throttling due to its cooling failing is it ?

I cannot advocate an SSD upgrade enough, fuck this magnetic spindle bullshit.

Super fast, completely silent, no moving parts. Made such a difference to me.

Yeah, I have two. The only thing an HD is good for is storing videos and music. OS, programs and games on SSD

Hmm question about ram

2133mhz CAS 11-11-11-31 vs 1866mhz CAS 9-9-9-24

Most of the 2133 ram seems to cost an absolute fortune for good CAS timings, 1866 being a lot cheaper and still maintaining 9-9-9-24's

basically price performance 2133 doesn't seem worth it at all

I don't run VMWare or use any major video editing software so I really have no need of 16gig of ram

that looks alright for the price

I stopped using HDDs a couple of years ago in my personal computer and only use SSDs and I could never go back, as you can tell nor could any one else who has used SSDs.

I've my doubts faster memory you'll solve your problem.

well everything is running at stock speeds atm, when the ssd arrives if it still hasn't fixed anything i'll order a new mobo+the above ram+case(because I need a new one and may as well buy it now if i'm putting a new motherboard in)

mate is going to overclock my cpu then as well so it'll be going from 3.5ghz -> 4.2ghz ish + ram + mobo + ssd, should solve it, i'll jump out of my window if it doesnt.

Yes. Even tried previous Graphics card driver versions just in case it was the newer ones being bent.

If your pc is running so badly, ram is not the problem(unless its faulty). i cant stress enough how little ram speed makes.

Its not that its crawling at a snails pace its that the fps isn't what it should be and I know for a fact WoW's fps should be higher than it is.

WoW can run like shit at times though even on top-end PCs so I really wouldn't use it as a benchmark.

Does your mobo have on board sound... have you tried with it disabled from bios?

Okay, have you eliminated the ram as the cause by removing a stick and testing, then putting it back and removing another?

I havent removed any of the sticks no but I did run a memtest (not memtest86, the one windows 7 comes with)

Ram or the motherboard fixed it, haven't overclocked the CPU yet but WoW's fps is pretty much never going below 60 now in any environment, nor is Battlefield 4.

Of course that also meant re-plugging everything, which may have mean the issue was something not quite seated properly....
