I know a lot of people think this is total trollop, but i took myself off to see it today and really enjoyed it. Yes, its a bit teenage angsty, and yes, its probably not to everyones taste, but it held together as a story and was very faithful to the book whilst not being boring or too lengthy.
I admit there may be an added draw for those who find Pattinson or Lautner attractive.....or for those for who find stewart attractive for that matter, but, give it a go. There are definitly worse things you could do to occupy three hours.

My missus is away with her friends to see it tonight which means I get piece and quiet (which I really need after Motorhead last night which was awesome but fucking loud).

However, I think a mate of mine summed it up on Facebook for me:

Big G's mate said:
I've been wondering why there's such a fuss about this Twilight 'saga' so I went and had a read of the synopsis on Wikipedia... oh dear god. So in the first one she goes out with a vampire who she can't shag and in the second it's a *splutter* WEREWOLF? Holy shit, sounds great, a true literary gem for 12 year old girls.

Is he correct in his observation? *shrug*

I've not watched all of the first film, so shouldn't really judge it. However I caught about two minutes of it with vampires playing baseball and that was quite enough for me to decide not to bother with it.

At the sci fi convention I went to a couple of months ago a couple of the stars of the films were there and they were besieged by teenage girls and their mothers.

Dunno why but I can't seem to think of this series as any thing more than chick flicks.

Its shite.

Shite film, shite book, shite everything.

Basically a rehash of the Romeo and Juliet story(boy meets girl, boy cant be with girl due to outside issues, boy finally gets girl), mixed with the buffy/ Angel love story frm Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Give me Christopher Lee as a vampire anyday :(

I was made to watch Twilight this evening as a prelude to taking my eldest daughter and her bestest friend to the cinema in a couple of days for New Moon.
My official reaction was:

"It was a bit *flat* wasn't it?"
There was little change in expressions or emotional tone throughout the film.

IMO, if you want vampires vs werewolves done right, watch "Underworld".
If you want fantastic goth style film noir with a kickass soundtrack, watch "The Crow". Both films have far more emotional content than Twilight does.
OFC, Twilight is aimed at early teen girls.
Maybe that's why I can't relate to it. :)

Pleased to have seen it last night (thanks Ed) and I enjoyed the film -but the books are 100x better, as is usual.

I thought Bella came across as a prick tease as the whole depth and detail of the power of their love was glossed over, as were all the more subtle features of being a shape shifter. But its a 'fun' teenage film so they have to fit it all in and feed the cash-cow. 4/10

I've unfortunately been in the same room as people watching the first one. I won't be seeing the second by choice but I'm sure it will inveigle its way into my living room at some point and it will be more sparkly vampires with great hair gracing the TV.

Twilight ain't that bad when you ignore the teenage love stuff, it's nto an excellent movie, but it's not exactly bad.

There are some parts that make you go "Huh,.." and i bet new moon wolfies are cool(looks nice atleast).

Vampire stories in general are a bit "blah" as it's always about a woman.

Watched it last night with the GF and I was bored, wanted Bella to die she really got on my nerves, the Werewolves were cool but not good fight scene of killings, you here about killings and see people before they are killed but you don't get to see anything. Call me old fashioned but a movie with Werewolves and Vamps should have plenty of deaths, it made me want to watch the Underworld series to cleanse myself. What was with all the teen brooding it was like watching a fight scene from Dragonball Z when they size each other up for 3 episodes, at least in that you get to see a fight instead of people wondering off.

Bring on the next OVA of Hellsing, or another Legacy of Kain game, now theres some proper vamps.

I wish all the vampires, and zombies for that matter, would fuck off and die tbh. Oh.

Play Plants vs Zombies, Gaff. It'll rekindle your love for Zombies (assuming you ever had any) while simultaneously fulfilling your desire to dismember them with peas and watermelons.

I can't help you with your vampire problem though.

What don't you like about Vampires? is it the change from proper horror to Disney style horror, or just don't like them full stop?

I thought the first film stunk for many reasons and I haven't seen the second film. However, I'm so skint that I've become a massive sellout whore and painted a portrait of Robert Pattinson as Edward. That boy has a head shaped like a Tesco Value potato.

I think I failed to make him look vacant enough.

If you don't mind some criticism?

The nose could be a bit more "left oriented". It's good as is, but from that angle with the eyes like that, it looks a bit crooked.

Also if you want a more vacant look, relax the eyes a bit, now it looks like a "ooh i want some of that but can't be arsed" look :D

Relax eyebrows(lift a bit), widen eyes a bit and let the sides of the mouth hang a bit?

Also the part next to the neck looks weird 'cause it either blends to the background or the jacket is a REAL two parter.

Ofcourse all of the above can be taken with a light "F*ck off it's my pic" attitude, as it should, just a force of habit ;)

Its a very nice picture though.
