My £3 basic keyboard i got from a computer fare afew years ago is finaly starting to die(A and ctrl button starting to stick, to much FPS games i guess). So i have been looking around for a replacement.

I am looking for a nice gaming keyboard more suited towards FPS type games if possible. So far i looked at the Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard, and the Razer Lycosa which both get good reviews from what iv'e read. So does anyone have any experiance with either of these boards or can recommand something similar.

Ta

P.S dont recommend a Z-Baord, i had one of these 2 years ago(spent quite abit of money on it and used in for 30mins total)

Hi Litmus

I have the G15 (v1) back in England and it's pretty cool. The LCD display is largely a gimmic, as few games support it, but it can be used for other things (unread email counts, "what's playing" screen for media player, CPU and memory usage etc.). The adjustable backlit keys are nice when playing in the dark, and the macro keys can be useful (i.e. bind several keystrokes to one key). It also has some other nice features, like a lock button for the Windows key (to prevent accidentally pressing it while you're gaming), and some extra USB ports around the back.

One thing to keep in mind is that it's huge. I'm not sure about the v2 edition, but I'd definitely recommend you look at it in a shop before buying, as the size and styling aren't everyone's cup of tea. You should also note that the extra functions (LCD screen, macro keys etc.) require Logitech's keyboard software to be installed, which can consume more resources than is really necessary (i.e. it loads all the LCD screen plugins even if they're not being used).

Overall it's a very good gaming keyboard, but it's been a while since I last researched this kind of thing.

Kind regards

Thanks.
I decided to buy the G15 in the end have placed an order, i could only find the v2 one tho... i think they discontinued the v1. Apparently v2 is abit smaller then v1. How ever one piece of negative feeback i have read on reviews was the key button layout. According to them the spaceing was abit wierd and took time to get used to, did you find this?

Hi Litmus

Yeah, you're right, the v2 replaced the v1. Having just looked at the v2's pictures, the changes seem worthwhile (i.e. reducing the number of macro keys to make the keyboard smaller, making the LCD screen more readable etc.).

Personally I didn't find the keyboard layout strange, and I was able to use it without problems very quickly. I guess it just depends what you're used to, but whatever the case, your 'muscle memory' soon adapts (i.e. knowing which keys are where without looking).

I hope you're having with your purchase; let us know how you get on!

Kind regards
