New free antivirus?

Anyone recommend a good free antivirus? Been using AVG for years but it's done a Norton and turned into useless bloatware. Can't turn the damn thing off either and stopping a scan takes half the day. So yeah, ideas?

Try avast, its hands down the best AV i've ever tried.

sometimes it's a tad overzealous but they are fast enough to fix it.

avast is also bloated, microsoft security essentials is very unobtrusive.

Comodo is also very bloaty, used to use the firewall but they went the norton route.

I wouldn't use a free AV, but if I had to... Microsoft Security Essentials.
