i think the site looks great much more profesiional. all hail whoever did it i found it confusing before. only one problem though i think that the menu thing at the top should be on the forum page too cause it gets anoyingn not being there.
well, you know what I think of the new site - I've said before in the other New Site thread (btw Trebz, you get my mail about smilies?).
Actually, I agree with MadMoewhateverhisnameis - if there is a way to put the new drop down menus on the MB pages as well, it would be very welcome. And make the site easier still top hop around.
Or, alternatively, just have the MB in a new window?
Ahh the refreshing smell of a "I hate Microsoft because its the "in thing" to do so I'll deprive myself of superior products" groupie..
Love them or loathe the company that makes it but Netscape couldn't hold a match to Internet Explorer - let alone a candle.
Incidentally, I lost count of the number of times Nutscrape crashed on my SUN Solaris machine at my previous workplace. And as for "features" - I seem to recall Netscape getting a whole host of bad publicity recently because an aspect of the browser sent off usage information (what files you were downloading) to an external party, all completely without your knowledge or consent of course..
New webbie looks very nice, profesional and whats more u didnt go for a flash filled eye candy piece of shit with "Skip intro" buttons that dont fuckin work. like the UKCCL webshite, u kept it simple and very effective, good work.
Why all the negativity Makhno? I asked for comments or bug reports not people slagging it off. I apologise if it doesn't work in your particular browser, fyi I've spent quite a lot of effort i'd rather have spent elsewhere on getting the webby to work on Netscape.
As of yet you are the only person who is getting problems with the site, would you like to give me more details so i could maybe fix it or shall we continue the flaming? I can appreciate the reasons you use Linux (if i guess right) and I sympathise that you haveto use such a shit browser for the internet. Maybe try Lynx? I hear it at leasts renders things as its meant to....
On a lighter note, thankyou to everyone who's given praise for the site, its much appreciated, makes it all worthwhile
Cheers
Trebz (Netscape can can suck my left bollock, that is of course if it can render a mouth properly.)
What is this myth that I prefer Linux?
I do use it at work, but I'm certainly not a fan of neither Microsoft or GNU (except their compiler). Nor Netscape for that matter.
Putting too much crap on a webpage is detrimental to all browsers (except Microsoft's one, that loves crap).
Maybe if you'd phrased your 'complaint' in a faintly constructive manner, you may have received some sympathy. Instead you come across as a petulant moaner.
I think it looks purty - nice one guys. One suggestion tho - make the menu text bigger on the bar at the top, I didn't even notice the menu's were there until I accidentally ran my mouse over them and they popped up!
I think the site is great, well thought out, easily navigatable and very proffesional looking. Agree with Gremlin, the top menu could do with being made a little more visible, a few quakenet regulars where having trouble spotting it at first, maybe larger text or, as we were joking, a large animated smiley pointing at it
Also, yeah, if its possible to have that top menu available in the UBB too somehow, that would be great. Or even to incorporate the UBB into the site template.
Works great in IE 5 here, and extremely fast loading. Nice job.
The new webbie is growing onb me, I particularly like the fact that each days news is now divided up 'properly'
One teeny thing I have noticed tho' (almost insignificant, minute, etc..) is that when a page is updated, and the new 'new' symbol appears, it's still there when you view the page. I've clicked on these again a few times, thinking there was something else to see. Would it be too much hassle to have it so the 'N' symbol disappears when one views a page?
Other than that, you should give yourselves a hearty pat on the back.
Yeah, thats a known "bug" with the new webbie, its caused by the way we now build pages. I'll have a look into sorting it out, hope you can bare it for now
Glad its growing on you, im hoping thats what will happen with all the other people who aren't too sure atm
Nice work lads. The new site looks ace and best of all still has that distinctive BW feel to it.
<niggle> Just one small niggle tho. Not strictly related to the new site, but those clan banner are getting abit tiresome. The clan banners haven’t changed for years! </niggle>
As always there is a niggle. I have to keep reminding myslef where to click for News, forums etc...seems a bit small and out of place as if it hasnt been decided where to put it yet.
It was so much easier in previous version of the front page of the site. I'm not saying go back to that, it was easier.
I have to say, when I'm on the bw site, and I can't be bothered to open favourites (for direct link to this ubb) I find myself being seriuosly fucked off at the stupid un-nessacery dropdown shite on the ubb link
Has anybody got the server booking to system to work since the new 'improved' website appeared?
It books fine, but the server doesn't change over when it's supposed to.
But hey, I've got a little navigating bar along the top now, I should be ecstatic.
