Not sure because I don't understand what you have written.

Look at it like this:

At level 50 a SB has a total of 3253 pts to spend, not taking into account any autotraining.
If you were to autotrain to level 48, you get 77 extra points.

So that makes 3330 to spend on your spec.

When you respec, your stealth goes back to the minimum that it can for the level you are at... calculated at 1/4 of your level.
At level 50 that would be 12.
At level 40 it's 10.

If you have not touched your stealth until level 48, you end up with 3330 points to spend.
If you decided to spec stealth at level 7 (prior to the first autotrain given at level 8) you only get 3253 points back.

So in your case at level 40, it depends when you started to spec stealth as to how many points you end up with.

Level 40 will give you 1771 base points and then you should add the following bonus points (non-bracketed) if you were still autotraining at these levels:

Level 8: 1pts (+1)
Level 12: 3 pts (+2)
Level 16: 6pts (+3)
Level 20: 10pts (+4)
Level 24: 15 pts (+5)
Level 28: 21pts (+6)
Level 32: 28pts (+7)
Level 36: 36pts (+8)
Level 40: 45pts (+9)
Level 44: 65pts (+10)
Level 48: 77 pts (+11)

So the final spec at level 48, + 11 to the initial stealth skill (1) gives 12.

Once you stop autotraining early - the remaining "bonus" points will be lost, even with a career respec stone.

This spec with 9 autotrain (lvl 36) would give him 145 left to spec for

But he has 148 left to spec for...

If this SB specced stealth at lvl 1 so he wont get ANY bonus

he would at this point have 102 left...

you always have 1 stealth...(always have 1 in all specs) so bonus realy starts at 2 in skill...

3=107 (lvl 12)
4=111 (lvl 16)
5=116 (lvl 20)
6=122 (lvl 24)
7=129 (lvl 28)
8=137 (lvl 32)
9=146 (lvl 36)
10=156 (lvl 40)
11=167 (lvl 44)

This is what the SB should have at lvl 44 if he ended the autotrain at any given point

He has 148...closest is 146...see the problem now...

EDIT: And this SB Specced stealth for BG3 (he sayd he tought it was arround lvl 30 or so) at lvl 30 you have 7 autotrained...means he SHOULD have 129 left...but he has 148...

Just aked him if he saw the autotraining screen at 44 and he says he did...so he got a free at 44...and will most likly get one at 48 too...

yes if u respec at 40 and KEEP stealth at 10 until 48 u will get the lvl 44 and lvl 48 autotrain (23extra spec point's) BUT u will still have payed for the lower point's (2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10)

For u remaining point calculation i can only say it's 99% sure u made an error, no offense mate, but i know the problem myself tripple check all ur numbers and remember u DIDN'T pay 1point to get a skill lvl 1 it START'S at lvl 1, ALOT forget this when they calculate these even done it myself sometime's, this is often the case, check it out

Take it fast again.

If the SB dident get ANY autotrain up to 10 stealth and specced as the spec is 40 CS 39 Sword 33 envenom and 11 stealth It would have 102 free points to spec for (has now 148)

The spec with 10 specced stealth (as 44 was free)

is 2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+10 = 54 points

102 IS what It shuld have if It payed does 54 points in stealth

148 IS what the SB have

mean he got 46 free points

Then lets check what 46 free gives us in stealth...

2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9 (9 is 44)

2 points are from somewhere I have checked all # again.

I havent calced with the first point....

Ur friend MIGHT have without knowing it autotrained SOME of the lvl's of stealth and specced some of the other's, to explain it ill make a fast example...

lvl1 ~ 12 no point's in stealth u get 2 free autotrain and now got 3 stealth

lvl 13 at trainer u use 4 point in stealth and bring it to lvl 4

lvl 14 ~ 16 no point's in stealth, u DON'T get autotrain "thx" to the train at lvl 13

lvl 16 ~ 20 no point's in stealth, u get lvl 5 stealth for free even though u payed for the lvl 4 stealth

lvl 21 at trainer u use 6 point's and get lvl 6 stealth

lvl 22 ~ 38 U dont spec stealth at all this mean's EVEN though u specced stealth at BOTH lvl 21 AND lvl 13 u get autotrain at lvl 28(7) 32(8) 36(9) and therefor save 24 point's (7+8+9)

lvl 39 u spec ALOT of point's into stealth and then at 40 u respec ur stealth line, the line goes down to 10 (as if u had autotrained to 40) and u have all in all saved 34 point's (2 + 3 + 5 + 7 +8 + 9) out of the possible 54 point's (2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 + 9 + 10) at lvl 40

this is JUST and example, im not saying this is excacly how u specced/ Your friend specced, but maybe u did something similar down the road which u forgot ( since u didnt have all info on autotrain u probably didnt think much about it back then ) that's probably why u have this eregularity in ur calculation

I am 100% sure no spec was made in stealth before lvl 30, this SB and mine lvl in the same time..we specced the same all the time...its me and a RL friend. So whatever how this even goes i made my SB with the spec I wanted I got my 50 sword 44 CS 35 stealth 29 envenom and so will he...

Ill be 44 axe 39 La 33 stealth 33 venom rest LA....i dont want t6o loose always i miss PA vs infis...so will use CS styles with 2 weaps
