Make a boot disk on a floppy first.

Dunno how. Just know what.

I enjoyed the installation for two reasons. It's on-screen display information is very informative and you don't have to sit there and watch the whole time if you have other things to do. I believe you will enjoy watching the installation because it gives you so much information and you don't have to do anything.

the man is obviously quite mad

must bloody be to write a guide on how to install windows!

Mine starts:

1) Get tech savvy m8
2) Give him a PC
3) Say install windows for me
4) Come back in 2 hrs time to see how he's getting on :D

Unless I'm mistaken, it would take about 5 minutes roughly to format any decently sized HD - IDE or SCSI (SCSI even longer) - which of course you would need to do beforehand, otherwise the image would fuck up.

This leaves about - say - 10 seconds give or take for inserting/removing the "image CD", another 5 seconds(ish) for the drive getting up to speed and slowing down at the end of the install..

By my reckoning that leaves roughly 45 seconds to install the O/S "image" in its entiriety, requiring (assuming the CD to be about 300Mb in size, although if it is a genuine image it could quite easily have additional software installed) a CDROM with a read speed of approximately 13.5Mb/sec (sustained) and a harddrive capable of likewise write speeds...

Interesting :)

Interesting :)

Your mistaken. Ghost, DI Pro etc don't format at all. They simply copy a sector by sector image of all the little ones and zeros. They could be Windoze files, software apps or your massive pr0n collection. It don't care. Nor do I.

lol fucking hell it was a joke Nick. I'm starting to worry about you, you're going to have a coronary if you're not careful.

would it be appropriate to mention now that it would be "comprendez?"

or in fact that it would actually be "entiende", as comprender is French and not Spanish?

:)

Can I double dare you?
