Have met 2 so far, 1 hit killed em both......are necro's not at their full potential at lower lvls like Wardens? The 2 i met were real soft. :(

To be honest, I'd never take any of my characters into BG 1 unless I was Lvl 24. There's no point going there to be beaten by a higher level, but if they are better than you then that is fair enough ;)

Necros are casters at their most basic level, and like casters they require distance to make the most effective attack.

The pets cannot wear armour, although they can be buffed, and seem to be always one level range below the players level, so they always con blue for example.

A 1 v 1 with any stealther is going to end badly for us obviously, but if we see you at range then we'd have more of a chance.

My Necro is only Lvl 12, and as such I have obviously not taken her to BG yet (give Mumbo a wave if you see her about!). Perhaps someone else could post how they play their Necro's in BG?

I've had a think about it and it's difficult. We haven't got caster range per se, and although the pet could be sent to distrupt other casters, once it's killed we have only 10% hits left...clearly leaving us extremely vunerable to being one shotted by any enemy class within range.

errr... u sure about that?

you have to kill the pet, AND then the necro itself....

so would be at least 2 hits...

or maybe u just 1 shotted 2 casters that were Inconnu?

Erm, so you are saying that you one hit kill their pets or the casters?

Because when i hit a necropet for 120 damage it loses about 20% of its health..

PLEASE dont tell me your shade has a damage cap of 600! cuz pure critblades(with 5.x spd weapons and 2 hand bonus) has below or around the 500 mark ;p

Possible scenarios:
A) you oneshotted an inconnu mage that was a necro that forgot to summon his pet.
B) It was a level 20 necropet that wasnt buffed in anyway and you got a nice crit in.

uhm.

on the bluecon pet i did ~150-200 with bs2, then 120-150 with garrote (anytime style), they do down after 1 bs2 and 2-3 garrotes. havnt tried PA yet but would guess on maybe 300 dmg, and the pet have at least 500hp

assassin cant beat an equal necro solo who has actually put lifetap on their quickbar
cant 1 shot the pet and as fast as you hit after the initial strike they take it back and its uninterruptable

yes, but youre a shadowblade ;) the first poster is not, hes a nightshade, no way he can survive a necro with lifetaps..

My lvl 24 hunter with maxed bow can onepop yellow casters. But blue and green necropets are impossible to 1 shotkill. As anotherone posted ontop, takes about 20 % of its health. As I havn´t been engaged with a pet in melee, I cannot answer how good they are.

The necro's i killed had no pet that i could see, perhaps i got lucky and they had'nt summoned one.

If this is the case (which looks likely) then it answers my question, and they aint soft.......which is kinda what i thought anyway :)

Oh, and im not critblade spec, just plain old pierce ;)

Eh? If they didnt have a pet how do you know they were necromancers then ?

And a necro always runs with a pet, can't do anything without it.

Are you sure it was Necro's you killed?
Might be another class............

After the Necro's pet is dead I always do dmg cap on the Necro, 99% of the time death after 1 hit.
The pets arent that hard tbh, but put up a fair fight.

when the pet dies, the necro only has about 5% health, so 1 shotting him isn't hard :p

K so here I am, lvl 24 necro :p

When my pet dies, I run slower than normal speed, so that's around 5% hp left. From my total hp that must be around 15 odd hp. You can't kill a necro 1on1 tho, not if you do not have a ranged attack, I ate a skald today who had the jump on me (both lvl 24).

a necro cant do ANYTHING without a pet....
they cast EVERYTHING through the pet..

only thing a necro without a pet can do is summon a new pet.. or well.. run or die..

(well.. i think :p)

mmkay :)

If you managed to see that the guy was wearing cloth then he wasn't in shade mode. Quiet viable then that you one hit killed the guy.

I reckon a Sb has a gud chance take a necro 1 on 1, but like with many other classes necro's are alot more deadly in numbers.
a zerg with necro's in would be crazy, they have a panic factor about'em, maybe a confusion on that to hit. If I ran into a zerg with 6+ necro's in it would stun me for a mo thinkin about that to do.... prob type /release :)
