when going beyond the Ft. Atla area was still dangerous and my wallet contained an awesome 37 copper, I joined Dah Troll Patrol. Loved that guild.. at one point two people of my guild came to ft. atla, and the first gave me some level 10'ish hammer and 5g! wow, 5g! that was a lot! :) then the second came and gave me 50g!!! and a Widowers shield. It had bonusses!! God loved that shield, walked with it for ages :)

Getting 50g that time, was like someone now giving me a Mith, or more even... :)

Then at one point you are high enough to attack those ghosts over the water from atla... and then WTF.... A wee wulf almost insta-killing me! loved to discover all those new things... seeing Darkness Falls... awesome ambient sounds there, getting killed by the knight at X, Damn.. the meanest thing I ever saw :). First time in Tuscaren Glacier, awesome looks... Killing the summoners when I was level 40'ish, and was allowed by the guild (Jordheim Peoples Front) to join while you actually had to be 45+

getting my first LGM AC, earning my first plat at level 30'ish...

Everything has been done now.. there's nothing new anymore :-(
or well... I think it's time for me to just go solo, and walk thru the entire new frontiers... perhaps I'll get some of that feeling again :) (nerf having this maximum of 4 smilies in a post...)

and aye, as been said before... the crafting cities, jordheim being packed with crafters.. nowadays noone goes there anymore.. (me neither)

the old days when ppl were XP'ing at the undead camp in Yggdra forest and every now and then the odd Assassin came and wiped the lowbies and most of the realm went man hunting.... that was so awsome :)

i seriously miss those days :(

Oh, there's lots of stuff..

- running out from Ft Atla with my lvl 1 kobbie hunter, together with two of my rl m8s who had convinced me that daoc would be fun.. killing stuff near Ft Atla, then daring to cross the river and hunt those Drowned Souls (?) and as many others have said: getting killed by wee wolves :D
- old school xp groups: killing Mora Dancers, those angry nuking trees around Gna, going to Askheim for the first time (damn we were afraid to pull from some of the houses - got some wipes too!).. getting spanked by Njessi the first time, then killing her at lvl 25ish.
- when a m8 of mine, who was early to lvl 50, showed me his glowing axe AND epic armour (norse warrior he was - Grotestiqle) in Gna when I was waiting there for a group.. it was the coolest thing I ever saw at the time.
- being in groups on lvl 30s in Spindelhalla, we had gimp groups w/o shaman or healer, and with SBs as tanks.. I remember being very scared of those nasty Undead Troll Warriors, as our fg got owned by a single one on several occasions on the same nights
- meeting people when you xp-ed: I remember meeting Eldergod (when you were a kobbie!), Pooneh, Etcetra, Antabus, Arnor, Sortbane, Meeka, and many others, were great times.
- my first night in Emain, ported there and yelled: "lvl 41 warrior lfg" and got inv (!)... I then remember sticking to some troll in a color that I thought was nice to recognize (was a NP cloak it turned out later) and I just held on to that guy for the whole night, fighting, dieing, but having a blast. Fights were pretty zergy in the beginning, but somehow more fun than zergs now :p
- Soloing from lvl 38 to 41 in Varulvham (still on my troll warrior) w/o buffs or end regen.. on blue/yellow mobs.. damn it took ages, but I HAD TO ding lvl 50 some day, my motivation was on top and daoc was still magical ;)
- Getting my epic in Mularn village on my troll warrior *sniff*

The list goes on and on..

Im going to add another thing....

Gna Faste, drove past the other day on my skald... all the famous crafters like Indra, Plaguey and even Ruathan hugging the forge for warmpth. XP groups shouting for members to head off into Askheim, Skona Ravine and Malmohus. People at level 23 queueing up to gank Njesse as she swam past DoTing lowbies who didnt watch for her wake. Making level 10 exp groups to go kill the mighty tinglers and watching the heroic high levelers gather to hunt in Spind for those illusive glowies.

Ah yes good times. first time i went to gna i was lvl 7 running along the coast, seeing trees and thinking nothing of it, blamm ,willows nuked me to death, oops. When people spoke of spindelhalla in hushed voices, being taken there by my high level friend when i was 20, being scared stiff.

Getting my first glowy sword from spindel, and spending ages looking at it, the flames and smoke, wishing i had specced sword instead of hammer. Xping in groups when no one really knew the terrain/mobs, then some bright spark would say, shall we see whats over the hill/round that corner, 1 minute later it was ok everyone seen healer? shall we go back and pray?

The in group fights that used to happen, thanes breaking mezz, the whole group screaming and fighting for thier virtual life. Im as guilty with my rm, screwing up a pull with AE spears instead of a single target debuff, "I pressed wrong key". Not knowing mechanics of game and experimenting("oh Shit, healer run")
The biggest mistake they ever did was put end buff into game

I miss the fun part in PvE .. running around and exploring new things, meeting new people.

I still remember the first time I entered Yggdra and exped at Undead Camp... and the first hib I saw ingame at Undead camp :) .. it was a ugly Firbolg named "Mikael" can't remember the class though but I think he was a Hero or Warden.

Nice memories :)

/em gets all excited....

and. . and. and! oh... and... you used to be able to jump through building rooves and the definition of being uber leet was if you sat on the porch roof at Gna and you got tells from people BEGGING to know how you got up there. :D

Other popular places for building climbing included the bar in huginfell (the town to bind in if you were "anybody" in Midgard) and the ultimate building climbing challenge was to get to the top of the big guild hall in Jordheim! :bazbeer:

 /buildingclimb 4tw

The exploration and socialisation period in the game when long term friends where made, when you never knew what lie ahead of you and every day was an adventure. And the factory mindset still had not rooted in people's mind when it came to xping and farming rps, the brickinspectors were unknown and player economy inflation was unheard of. Those were the simple, pleasant days. :)

> first few weeks of retail when everything seem so huge and overwhelming, when your first level 50 was a far off dream and nobody really knew what an opted group was so everyone was welcome.

Ye, it was a sad day when the spreadsheet nerds took over the game. Really sad they got a pat on the back when the badly designed spellcrafting system was introduced. I still cant understand how someone at Mythic could design a system that would give a char maximised stats allround without having forcing the player to make some hard choices. Free lunches are bad for the character. :) After scing arrived you evaluated most drops for their salvage value rather than the benefit you would get from using them.

when hitting rr5/6 was a big deal and highest people were like rr7/8

Probably chain pulls on Danonian/Gobo's with me Pally. The days when you could get lvl in groups and actually sat for a while waiting to get in one. When Xp'in 20-45 without PL was viable :(

Getting lost in the Pennine Mountains with Fii ;)
Getting lost on route to Hadrians Wall with Feyd and Zlair ;)
Generally getting lost in zones when things were new and fresh.

well... my most fun experiment must have been nisse's in that cave outside ft.atla.. after spending hours trying to escape the wee wolfs i finally got to go inside a CAVE! had SO much fun in there with my cute lil trollwarrior :) didnt even know i could throw hammers at them at the time so my method of pulling was... "move slowly forward til one mob turns, then back off fighting, while hoping that not more then one would turn" :)

Going on a keeptake with my entire guild and have like 10 level 50's and 20 non level 50 ... before the keeps got the level system. It took aaages and my ickle Avalonian Cleric died over and over again but the 50's were patient and kept rezzing the little ones and we ended up taking the keep.

That was fun!

what?! we still did that a week before NF :D

Ahh yes, uppland crabs, I miss the long trek into middy under cover of stealth and it taking about 20mins to get there, sitting down and watching grey con middies xping away happily. Always ready to jump up and kill any grey killing inf that comes along :) ahh the memories.

Miss all the fun there was with lvling + rvr but most of all i miss those happy days out In FS hiding in trees next to the road, killing people hunting for weapons at elly village! :)

Or exping at undead camp and being killede by a opposit realm player for the first time... Much more fun to xp a place with some ekstra risk :)

the time where when you died out in frontiers as a lowbie you got ten PM's where people said: WHere?
