warning.. do NOT read this if you are easily offended or your friends / family got involved in this...

this post is going to be blackened.. so read at own risk..

ok heres my 2 cents about this.... just before i start.. yes its a tragedy that it happened... but its not worth "stopping the world from rotating" over.. i dont have the exact statistics here but im willing to bet that more ppl under 10 year old die each year then in these terrorist attacks.. but it just hasnt the media coverage to get ppl so wound up as this.. why do this get so much more attention then .. lets say.. a 9 year old boy dyin from aids because he got a blood-transfer when he was a child and fell and broke his leg... but there is 2 reasons why this is so blown out of proportions..

1: media.. this stuff sells.. ill guarantee that every newspaper/newschannel/internetsite that has something about this gets 25% more income today because of this.

2: "celebritys":.. everyone is going to jump on this bandwagon and maybe.. get a new hit.. remember elton johns candle in the wind? ok he gave away the money he earned on that one song.. but how many million more albums do you think he earned from this? how many ppl heard his song and thought "hey that guy aint bad.."

and yes if you chose to read this and feel im wrong youre free to say so.. but im just saying this.. Dont stop the world just because something like this happens.. yes its sad.. but its just as sad when any human life is lost in. and yes.. this is someones parents.. this is someones friends.. this is someones husbands and wifes.. this is someones child dieing in this terrorist act.. but every time a human life is lost .. it is someones friend.. someones family.. so be safe.. and take care of eachother every day.. remember every individual that has impacted your life.. and remember.. its just life.. everyone looses in the end.. hug a friend today.. not because of this accident.. but because he is your friend..

1.) It's sad cos most people here will know people who have to use the tube everyday and as a result may have been close to effected areas. Families, Friend's acquaintences - I don't know anyone who i would like to see die in a bomb explosion tbh.

2.) Yus tragedies happen every day, just cos I feel for the people involved in this tragedy doesn't mean I don't feel for anyone who faces similar circumstances or encounters misfortune

If you choose to feel that way fair enough, it's not going to stop my world from turning, it will make it pause while I think about anyone involved, their families etc however.

Erm. Way to completly misread an event. It's disruptive, we are disrupted, this is what happens when disruption occurs.

Its in this country. humans are self centred. around seven million people are directlyt affected right now. we don't know whats happening. people might be dead.

You've only gone and stated the bloody obvious in an extremely narrow minded and stupid way.

your idiotic speculation and bets are FAR worse than the speculation of the media, you've gone and started a WHOLE NEW THREAD because you felt we just HAD TO HEAR your weak-ass cynicism. fucking hypocritical that, eh?

fuck off.

And anyway, what makes your comments so important they need their own thread?

Just another attention seeker I guess :puke:

in a way he is right. the whole point in a terrorist act is to cause disruption to the public, economy, life etc. i think what he is TRYING to say (imo) is dont let it effect you because thats the point in the bombing.
but you cant help BUT be disrupted and you cant pretend not to be, because that wont stop terrorists.

i just heard on the news now they are blaming it on Al Qeada(sp?), but where is the proof? obviously i dont agree with whats happend, but i also dont agree on just blaming a group of people with no proof.

I think it's important that people start asking who Al Qaeda really is. Not becuase there aren't bad people responsible for this but because It seems Al Qaeda just a term used for a WIDE RANGE of mentalists. Many Organizations operating under one name..benefits them cos they sem scarier and benefits the Govt cos they can blame something specific.

Espen, you're a cock. Russell Square was/is a disaster site this morning. I helped injured people get into a double decker bus bound for hospital because the ambulances couldn't move or were at any one of the other sites.

People have only just emerged from Kings Cross after maybe 3-4 hours and you talk about celebrities? The media is being very calm about this and if anything, under-playing these events.

Fuck you. I can't be arsed.

i did say "if you are involved in this.. do not read this".. there was a reason i made it blacked out.. and yes i was trying to say what tris said.. just spelled it out wrong.. was in a hurry for a meeting when i wrote it.. the reason i did not post it in the other thread was that that thread was filled withppl who were involved in one or another way.. yes i do send my condolanses to everyone who was involved in this.. and i dont want the "im a bad person" stamp just because i said what i said.. im not.. but im also not dressing in black because this happened.. shit happens every day.. and i do want to show my respect towards the ppl who got killed but im trying to say that ALOT more then 100 ppl and their familys gets a personal tragedy every day.. every week. every year....

So what you are saying is they shouldnt report this is so much detail and just report on other normal everyday things??

This is news. it gets reported when its known.

Those "more than 100 ppl" you talk about cant all be tracked down and have their story shown on TV now can they? Get real ffs

Shit happens everyday, sure, but how many bomb explosions occur in central London?
Anyway, why can't people 'who are involved' read you're opinion? Unless you're being deliberately provocative?

While I agree in principle with some of what Espen writes, hes wrong about a couple of things.

This kind of event does matter, and it deserves the media coverage its getting. Its about a minority trying to impose their ideals by way of frightening a majority into submission. Its about trying to disrupt the running of an entire country with acts of violence. Even the threat of violence has had a big impact on the way that security in this country works, it has enabled many questionable new laws to come into effect that have no place in a civilised, democratic country.

That is why it deserves coverage. People need to be able to see the effect it has, and to be able to draw their own conclusions.

It has no parallel with military actions in other countries, which is likely the reason for this attack.

It's impossible not to let it effect u even in some way, everyone is shocked and panicked by what happened, and it is horrible. yes life goes on but it takes time for the shock to wear off.
The media are reporting on it because there are so many people affected and so many people who dont know where friends and family are and they want some confirmation that things are getting sorted ya know?

yes people die every day and i'm not denying that millions of people around the world hurt when they loose loved ones. but what should have been done during WWII? should we have just ignored it pretended it wasn't going on???

oh.. just to make things a bit clearer about the "media" .. im not talking about just the news.. ofc it should be reported.. but the stuff that annoys me bout the media is.. for instance.. in norway we have a chat-tv-channel where ppl send text-messages in for 1£ per textmessage.. its ppl like this pulling in cash on the disaster that im annoyed about.. ofc it should be in the news but its the ppl who ordinary dont have anything about the news thats annoying me.. and the artists thingy i was talking bout.. im talking bout the ppl who go in and sing a "song to support" the disaster then magically 2 weeks later comes with an album or something.. im not for a world in ignorance..

I apologise If this sounds rude, but is English your first language? How tough is it to add a little bit of structure to your posts, especially those trying to convince others you aren't an idiot.

Yes yes, good points, poorly expressed.

Why? Just cos most of you dont agree with his views? It seems if you are in the minority you get harsh words thrown at you for it...

This may just be me, but, am I the only one thinking this has something to do with us getting the Olympics?

I suspect it was down to the G8 summit for the political turmoil it'll cause around the world. However the olympic victory will be a bonus for the terrorist scumbags

Hardly, if they wanted anything to do with the Olympics, yesterday would have been it.

Trafalgar square anyone?

Stratford?

No, this was planned months ago. G8.

Espen, talk about stating the bloody obvious. Yes of course more people die in war torn countries. Yes more 10 yeard old's die due to starvation and yes the media will profit from it one way or the other.

The fact is that it is still newsworthy and important to the people that maybe effected. It should be shown on the TV, if nothing more than an act of defiance to say that we will stand up and we will not have have our way of life disrupted because you do not like our way of life.

The whole politics that make people indifferent and want to do awful attrocities like this on either side are for a different debate.

In my opinion this was done as a "little" reminder to the western world and the members of G8.

Lets think about it for a moment,if they had wanted to go for mass publicity the a couple of stratigically placed bombs on saturday would have been much more effective.

Obviously this doesnt help the people who were injured or sadly lost thier lives, but also i think everyone in the entire country was aware that something like this was going to happen sooner or later.
