Sniping is the secondary skill, more important is to provide a target for artillery, then switch to scope and try and bag the bodies as they fly through the air when the big guns rain death down on them.

I'm looking forward to more maps with more Artillery pieces you can use against the enemy, most of the ones on wake are limited to out to sea use.

Can't wait for some waaaay behind the lines, then playing with someone who understands the whole, Gunner/Spotter relationship, It's gonna be great raining down fiery death on the opposition from miles away

I love the sniper rifle.

And yes I like the fact that there's no pips on the scope to help you measure - it makes you rely on your own judgement far more. I don't have any problem taking someone out with one shot from a km away - allow for distance and the subjects lateral movement, steady yourself and fire.

Mind you I've only started playing it, so mebbe it gets harder the longer you play?



But the point about the anti-tank gun doing no harm to infantry is common sense really - if you had a high-yield explosive, designed to take out a TANK fgs, explode anywhere near you, you'd expect to be maimed or killed outright, depending on distance.

Believe it or not, real explosive weapons do have splash damage - just because Quake 1/2/3 have splash damage doesn't mean that it's unrealistic.

Oh and it runs smooth as a baby's arse on my system (p4 1.9/gf3/512) - I'm using Hardware T&L, so maybe you need to use that to smooth things out fps wise?

Anyway, fun game, which I'm gonna seriously look at taking up. I'm gonna be quitting playing Q3 in a while, so I'm looking to pick up a new game.

If I recall, T&L is required to even run the game, hence TNTs and older Voodoo cards have problems rendering the world. (Quite funny to spawn and see a grey mist and seeing a larger grey blow, probably a tank, shoot a smaller grey blob at you and the grey mist then killing you)

At a vague attempt to get this thread back on track...

What do people think of the full version of the game (those who have aqquired it for um... play testing purposes).

Well what can I say, bit of an improvement yes, some sillyness still remains but the biggest let down... well the biggest let down for me ( and its actually not the way its coded, which is also awful ) is the AI.

There is actually an option to add or take away cpu time spent on the AI. Problem is even with it up full the damn CPU players dont seem to have a clue about what they actually have to do.

They seem to fix themselves on a target and ignore any other person, mission or anything. Its a real shame because the single player mode is almost ruined by their utter stupidity. Another big problem seems to be that even though they are thick and avoid capturing flag points or orders you may give they are actually a very very accurate shot picking people off from over the hills and miles away.

I'm glad the game has been improved, the anti tank gun is still a bit too pussy for my liking but at least its possible to a) kill people with the sniper rifle and b) actually score a kill by AIMING.

For online play this game should be a good laugh with some intelligent people :_)

PS .. what is it with hand grenades being vastly more powerful than anti tank weaponry? 2 Grenades take out a stationary turret tower but it can take 3 or even 4 shots from an anti tank gun or an actual tank itself!

Single player is obviously only an afterthought, kind of like including a bot program in a retail version of counterstrike. Thats the way it is, suits me fine, I'd much rather play against real people than the computer anyway.

Sigh, tbh you people who defend flaws by pointing out that a caption on a website says something of some relevance really get to me.

Amazon says its multiplayer focused, whoopee. So i guess that means that its ok for the single player game to be shit? It makes EA utterly exempt for making shite AI and whoever dares moan about it shouldnt because.. even though its part of the game, its not suggested that most people should play it that way anyway.

Also, it wasn't Amazon saying it was multiplayer focused, it was the Manufacturers Description section. So, not the opinion of Amazon, but the information given to them from the manufacturer, confirming it as predominantly a multiplayer game.

Maybe the AI is shit, I don't care, I was merely pointing out that the manufacturer freely admits to the game being multiplayer oriented.

Maybe i should have used more italics in the original post to emphasize to whom the comment should be attributed, and maybe you should drink a little less coffee or something Dimebag, try to chill out a bit.
