I recently sold my Subaru Impreza and I come down to a 1.2 corsa which has been modified as a show car for magasines. I only bought this because I was spending around £500 a month to run the Subaru, which is one of the reasons for selling as it was getting expensive.

So over a year I was paying roughly £6000 a year to run the Subaru.
The 1.2 Corsa will rougly cost me £2000 a year to run.

I've only had the Corsa for almost 2 months now and I really miss the Power.

The cars I have been thinking off are the following:

Nissan 350z
Renault Clio V6
Golf R32
Subaru Impreza WRX STI (another) maybe not sure

I'm more heading towards a Nissan 350z as I like the shape and it's pretty quick.

Any of you guys had the experience with the above apart from the Subaru Impreza as I have already had one.

See Below the cars I have had before:

When I was a boy racer (giggles) I had 2 XR2i's

Zetec S Fiesta - SOLD

Corsa 1.2 Show car - I own this car atm

Subaru Impreza WRX STI - SOLD

What cars do you have and what would you recommend me?

Old Mini and dump a 1.6 VTEC engine in it...........

I Used to own 1 of those, beat a 911 turbo in a 1/4 of a mile no prob but its crap as an every day car :D

Civic Type R

Cupra R Leon for 15K you could get a perfect 1 of these 150 mph, 6.6ish sec 0-60 great car for the money.

Drop the scooby and get an EVO!

Mind you its even more expensive on the running costs.

Or if you have a big wad and want some old skool get an R5 Turbo galvanise the body and do it up get the engine sorted. If I had the cash id do that!

Or an older S4 or M3

Damn so much choice :(

I'd go with the 350Z or, if loaded and willing to put some stuff in, a 300ZX.

Also personally i'd go for a prelude(92-96) :worthy:

It's just nice looking and from what i've heard, reliable and very much tunable for own liking.

Thsi is a 99 i think, but still, just puuuurrrrrfect!

Go for a 1.8 160 MG ZR :)

They are good cars, and if you don't drive like a twat, you can get good miles out of them too!

Btw, if you think his car is bad, should see some of the cars in Southend that try to be show cars, but stick their splitters on etc with blu-tack :|

Ahh can't believe I didn't get to see this thread before!

All I can say is stay Jap! If your looking for something small and quick. Get a Honda CRX Del Sol - You can pick one up for about 3k and if that was your budget i'd put a turbo in it. There a 1.6 which puts out 180bhp as standard. A good turbo can be done for around 3-4k. You will own any STi/WRX/911/mini's! (it uses the same engine as the mini) And you don't haev to get some big ass bodykit, they look sutle enough and are rude :D Serious car kill and is only a 1.6 so fuel is about 30-40mpg! Then still have cash for maybe something family orientated :p Here's the website anyway! dsuk.com - Welcome to dsuk.com

If not i'd get something like a MR2. Maybe a Honda Integra TypeR DC5? RX7? Supra? Soarer? Though all of these will pretty much put you in the same fuel range.

Here's a pic of my car! mm I know I will get flamed for this but who cares its my pride and joy and yum yum. Will own your corsa Vladagay!!!!!!!

If you want a really nice car, its going to hit your pocket. Fact of life these days.

Makes me laugh when people boast about having an £80,000 car then whinge about how much their insurance and tax is.

If you're a boy racer (flash noisy bastard under 25) your insurance is going to be higher. Deal with it.

its also funny how everyone goes on about it can do 0-60 in half a second and has a top speed of 500 mph.

heres the facts kids -

there is literally no where thats long, straight and safe enough to go from stationary to 60, not legally anyway. unless you pay to go on somewhere private.

who gives a shit if you can go 150 when the speed limit is 70mph anyway?

its the ***** driving around like ***** that causes problems for the rest of us who just want to go from A to B without fearing for our lives. police and ambulance drivers have to train for some time with specialists to drive safe and fast. how many boy racers in their super leet carz know what they are doing when theyre hitting the top speeds?

Exactly.

In fact most of us spend our time on 30 limit roads.

Everyone hates boy racers. I certainly do. But there's a big difference between a car enthusiast and a boy racer.

I hate when everyone assumes all under 25 with a noisy exhust is a boy racer. I'm not and i've got a 4" tail pipe which is louder than a aeroplane at times. So what? Doesn't mean I go as fast as I can whenever I can. There's a sensible way to drive fast. Which i'm sure hardly any of you will understand, nor will you understand the joy and feeling you get from driving it.

Lets not turn this thread into a discussion on boy racers and what not... He needs a new car - And this was defo not a good place to ask :p

im not saying its right or wrong, simply pointing out the legal view on it. it would appear sometimes that people are not aware there is even laws relating to driving a car the way some go about.
what is it that makes you an 'expert' on driving fast? if we cannot understand it, then i take it that somehow you are more informed than us? youve been for lessons off professionals for example. perhaps you are a professional.

But why would you want a really noisy exhaust? So everyone looks at you in disgust when you drive past? To wake everyone up as you drive past their house at 1am? I really don't understand.

Just for the info :) I'm noway a boy racer, I admit I use to be, but not now and for a long time. I'm 32 and I like to think I drive sensible. It's not like I havn't had a powerful car before.

I like cars done up etc... because its one of my hobbies, like people who like certain sports, its a hobby they like. Mine I'm affraid is buying a car and doing it up because I love doing it. It's expensive yes, but to finish a project you started is an achievement imo.

I do like the Nissan and I think I'm more heading in that direction for another car and I want to get it looking something like this, see below:

I can't stand those fucking assholes who ride round late at night with wide bore exhausts on their piss-ant 3 door jobs with bangra music blasting out.

If you've got a high performance sports car, all well and good.

But if you've bought a £1000 piece of crap and just stuck an aerofoil on the back, some wank graphics down the side, blue lights under the car, a couple on the dash, and a wide bore exhaust then you're a wanker in my book

Car enthusiast think driving around with the loud a exaust is ok because we all think they extra few horsepower justify the noise. Where as we all think o look boy racer :)

I would never own a car like that for everyday use too much noise too much ro run nice little 1.2 Focus for work. Ifi had the money i might own a evo or similar for weekends track days ect.

Here's a "fact" "kid" -

0-60 gives you some bloody good idea of how fast you can get around that tractor/stream of cars infront of you when needed without having to worry about moving like a slug and get squished like one by a semi coming the other way.

It's not about "being leet" or "having blingz top speeds meight!", it's also about safety.

Faster acceleration = more safety in right hands.
