I've done lots of stuff, after all I've had 40 years in which to do it :)

Right now I'm just an ordinary guy, and plan on remaining that way. I got married last year, and for probably the first time ever I have stability and direction in my life.

I've already told you too much now I'm afraid I have to kill you :)

really run out of time reading this thread, but its pretty interesting.

Theres a lot of comments about being depressed on here, for various reasons. I suffered from depression for a while, well not sure i would say i suffered from depression, but i certainly had a pro longed period, where i wasnt happy (age 16-17 basically). It was started over a woman, but finished up with me being paranoid about friends, i still have problems trusting "new" people.

Its weird, but i found that during that time, there was nothing that helped, i never took anti depressants, i believe that i should always be in control of my emotional state - i wont do drugs either.

One day after having seen a few friends falling out with each other, and a couple of relationships split up, my best m8 said something to me that cheered me up, and just sorta, kick started me out of the whole mess. He simply said "look at all this crap going on, all these people fighting and arguing with each other, all you got to remember is that we will always be good friends, no matter what happens".

For the next 3 years ro so, nothing, and i really mean nothing, could get me down. It fell apart a bit over a bloody woman again, but only for a month or so. I think you just need a trigger, something that sets a foundation that you can build on and fall back to. I dont know what that would be for anyone else, but i found it in having a good relliable best friend.

Mank : only peice of diret advice I can give you is this, stay away from the unstable women in your life. I'm serious, sometimes you have to be selfish and put your own mental well being in front of theirs. If theres one thing that can screw with a blokes mental state, its an unstable woman they care about, believe me i know. I made a mistake with a girl who was "having a hard time". I let her get away with brain raping me for a few months, because I didnt want to "upset" her by standing up for myself. She was the one who ended my 3 years of happyness etc.

Basically be selfish, find some relliable friends and put them first and above all else, except family maybe.

You mentioned you could sleep for 15 hours, even without needing it, and that you didnt know what caused your depression. This sounds weird, but try taking up a sport or regular exercise, (a martial art would be perfect becaue it boosts confidence as well, i did Thai Boxing). Feeling fit and with plenty of energy can massively improve your happiness, although im totally unfit atm cause i had an operation go wrong that has prevented me from doing thai boxin for nearly a year now - thats gona get solved 2moro hopefully when i go in for another op :eek:

You speak sense, things with her are good atm. She's not quite so down or she's got better at hiding it. I don't know, it'll probably all change suddenly though.

I've considered taking up Football, problem is I'm extremely unfit now and I've got really dodgy knees. But I'm going to give it a go anyway. :)

Heh, suddenly thought. Anyone reading this thread who hasn't had a relationship up until now will probably stay well away from women and become a recluse :p

Serious answer : They make you open up your emotional state, letting you go higher up or lower down. Its a risk, but its still fun.
