Movie to iPhone converter

Hey guys - anyone able to recommend a good free (or cheap) programme that will convert DVDs and avi files so that I can put them on my iPhone? I've had a google and there are an abudance of programmes but not sure whether they're kosha or not.

Haven't used it for a while, but this is what I had installed to convert movies to use on my ipod touch.

I use Format Factory to cover my converting needs.

Not used it to rip DVD's but it claims it does it.

Converts to much to list. Check it out.

Edit. it says is supports 32bit OS's, I run it on windows 7 64bit just fine.

I was wondering the same thing recently. I'm surrectly using handbrake which is an open source convertor. I'm also using Aimersoft's DVD to iphone convertor which is not free but works ok.

I am rather frustrated by the fact that itunes and the iphone won't recognise or play avi's given that virtually all the video files I have are avi's

Cheers. Used mediacoder but for some reason it takes an hour to encode a 700mb avi file in to .mp4!

i have began using handbrake again after the recent update. open source and not bloaty. tho before the fix i used Xillisoft which is more of a resource hog but simple to use. and i use Downloads - iphonebrowser - Project Hosting on Google Code to copy em over to the releveant location than using itunes which takes ages if youve got more than a few tv eps to watch

Handbrake looks as though it is much less annoying now, might have to give it another chance.

HandBrake will do this easily (for unencrypted DVDs)

if you use Vuze (formerly Azureus) there is an addon you can install to convert movies to iphone
