.mov and .avi to MPEG?

Catsby asks if anyone know of a conversion tool to turn .avi and/or .mov to a format that can be burnt as a VCD? (ie MPEG).

Well Smacker from RAD will change MOV into practically anything, but you might need to jump movs from mov -> avi -> mpeg.

Try looking for TMPGEnc (costs ££) or FlaskMPEG (not used Flask in a long time).

tmpgenc will do a superb job of avi > mpeg1 for VCD...it'll give you best quality conversion. Theres two versions, free and pay. The latter will do mpeg2. Just do a quick google.

Nero will do avi > mpeg for VCD...but it will probably make a pig's ear of it...so I wouldn't recommend
