Motherboard issue

I've just bought a new MSI board basicly and i've plugged/conected all the wires correctly for the pwr button/reset button. BUT when I turn on my pc via the power button it all powers up like it should but it doesn't proceed to boot up, which I found rather odd.

So anyway when its in this state its almost as if my monitor is on stand by (yellow light) and the pc is stopping itself from booting up however soon as I press the reset button its almost as if pressing the reset button makes it all come to life all starts up fine.. so the issue basicly is the reset button takes it out of this strange/buggered stand by state.

Any ideas?

Update your Bios (which will also clear your CMOS). Are you overclocking?

No, not overclocking in any way :( the ram is ddr2 800mhz, it says on the mobo box it does support that although someone on ebuyer said it doesn't support it.

Screen remains black?
Could be a RAM issue... try moving the RAM to different slots...

or check the ram is at the correct voltage. "auto" can mean anything tbh.

Above steps are all good ideas - even a simple bios clearance with the onboard jumper might even help.
Power supply sufficient enough?

Take some stuff out (hdd, graphics card etc) and see if you get any joy then. You wont see anything obviously, but if it stays powered up, you've probably found the suspect.

Bios update may well fix the issues I feel, but it is MSI after all - not exactly quality hardware im afraid :/
