As an atheist I believe that all wars fought over religion are laughable.
Here follows a war over religion from my point of view:
*puts on glove puppets*
"My turnip is bigger than your turnip"
"No it isn't"
"yes it is"
"show me the proof"
"I haven't seen it I just know it is"
"Well I haven't seen my turnip but I know its bigger and better than yours"
"My turnip has told me that I have to destroy your turnip and all the people who want to eat it"
"Well I won't stand for that, I'm going to destroy your turnip in retaliation but if the people who want to eat your turnip decide that they want to eat my turnip then I will spare them"

Ok it may seems stupid and childish to you, but thats exactly my point. If you're gonna fight a war you should at least fight it for a reason, building an empire or world domination being the best reasons.
Although it does seen that the taliban are fighting it for religous reasons, the Americans are fighting for revenge, and the British are only fighting coz good ol Tony doesn't want to seem like a total wuss (even though we all know he is)

Not that I want to get dragged into this crap again but one point about the Taliban. Its a strange Holy War since the North Alliance are Muslims and they've been fighting the Taliban for 20 years now, at the end of the day its just using the words Holy War to get more support, sort of like America and the UK with its coalition ;)

Back in the Iraqi war, I seem to remember Mr H. shouting 'Jihad' and spamming missiles over Israel!, similar type of thing going on now. Most Islamic nations can no doubt see through it.

The problem is that the general population doesn't seem able to see through it.

your right ! - Back with the Iraqi thing, everyone knew they'd invaded kuwait, and been pushed back. and were obviously shouting 'jihad' to try and widen a conflict which was obviously nowt to do with a 'Holy War'.

This time, there's no evidence on the table to say what the Taliban are guilty of, so when they shout 'jihad' it isn't as straight cut as before.

The only way to really solve it would be to make the talked about 'evidence' public. OK there's the problem of this putting 'agents'/informers abroad who obtained the evidence at risk (which is apparently the reason why the evidence isn't public yet). But without it, everyone can believe what they want.

Isn't it about time all the 'informants' who could be put at risk by releasing this info, were pulled out of wherever they are to safety, and the evidence made public ? As its currently a case of 'information' being more valuable than thousands of human lives with the only evidence/reasoning being that 'Bush Knows Best!'

Its America's pride that causing the bombings in Afganistan. At least they're allowed to be patriotic, if us Brits get patriotic we get accused of being racist.

Heh heh. That's the most succinct, am00sing and accuratedescription of a holy war, like ever.

:D

I was in a funny mood whe I posted that, but it shows the point that as an atheist I see a war over turnips just the same as a war over god.

This whole war is sad. The attack on the 11th sept has never been proved to be the work of Bin laden. But Bin Laden is a fool who is trying to stir up holy war and unfortunately some Uk muslims have answered his call :(

Im muslim and I know the Tailban are f00ked up. Tailban mean students in arabic, and darn these guys need a lesson in the meaning of islam. Now their wacky idea of an islamic state is all the world knows of an islamic state.

Although i know Bin Laden and the Tailban are crooked, I still cant support this war. Its possibly the most counter productive "war on terrorism" ever. Imo the world needs a strong moderate islamic state to counter the lies Bin Laden/Tailban spread as islamic truths.

As for Uk muslims fighting in Afghanistan i dont understand their motives. But Im sure they have their reasons. Im a Uk citizen but that doesnt mean i have to agree and support the government position. Especially when i consider that bases for this war to be extremely weak.

No one wants another attack like the WTC. I know the US had to respond and i wud rather they attackled the money flow into terrorism.

erm ok ive rattled on for too long now. Really shudnt write so much this late at night :)

This is fucking bullshit. If they hate this country so much then fuck off and go somewhere where they feel at home. Like to see them wearing their Armani T-shirts and driving BMW 3 Series in Afghanistan. Sorry about the generalism, but they want to have the freedoms that this country offers, enjoy (quite rightly) a law system that prevents abuse against them on skin colour and religious ground and yet they hate this country with a passion and also advertise this fact.

Totally agree with this .If 2nd and 3rd generation imigrants to Britain feel that their loyalties are somewhere else then fookoff over there .

This thread was started by asking if Asians living in Britain going to fight with the Taliban against British soldiers was treasan .
Damn right it is .

Im not against imigrants wanting to come and live here but if they dont feel this is their true home 3 generations down the line then its probably better they returned to where they think home is .

As I've said I don't disagree with their decisions, if they want to go fight for the taliban let them, they'll die the taliban won't appreciate the effort and sacrifice and it'll be a lesson learned for their family and friends. What I don't agree with is that they want to come back into this country after the war, more than likely the government will let them. however if this does happen I'm pretty sure justice will be served when the white (minority) kick shit out of them.

How is it treason to live in a free-speech country and to voice your beliefs? You can't shun them for their religious ties, thats exactly the kind of ignorance and intolerence that leads to war. Look at this century, there've been countless skirmishes in the middle-east due to intolerent religious sects.

Kez you've read this thread and seen what you've wanted to see. We aren't saying its treason because of their beliefs we're saying its treason because they're fighting against our country, yet they want to live here. The only reason is because of religion, it could be about anything, it could be about the turnips but the fact is that they want to fight for the enemy it could be for any reason, they could want to fight for them because they're uniforms look better or because kalashnikovs are better than M16's but the fact is its still treason.

I reserve the right to disagree (most of the time, as it happens) with the point of view of the government (which is actually minority voted, technically), that is freedom of speech.

Declaring support for, and fighting on the side of an enemy of this country in any conflict is treason, pure and simple. They can voice the "no support for the war" thing, thats fine and dandy, their point of view and thats the way things should be (like Fingermagnet for example)
But not actually going off and fighting for the enemy and then EXPECTING to be allowed back into this country.

What the fuck would've happened in WW2 if this was allowed????

Good post Fingermagnet, you hit the nail on the head m8, they ain't really got a clue of what Islam is about, otherwise they would'nt do what they are doing by trying to involve every Muslim on the planet.

Ignus, there is only 1 "k" in Mark I believe.

Sorry. ;)
