A few random points (some of which have been handily pre-flamed above).
1. The improved regen of health/power/endurance for PvE was added. See the latest patchnotes - of course, the tinderboxes don't drop in task dungeons - guess you'll have to roam outside to gain the true benefit.
2. I'm in a guild of mainly new players, most started within the last year or so. The hard bit isn't getting to 50, or Artifacts, or ML's, it's getting into RvR. Getting into RvR groups can be hard if you're not already reasonably high RR, and I can't see many people successfully soloing on their first character these days, especially when you lack the money to make a kick-ass template. Fortunately I'm not in an alliance that accepts lower RR / imperfectly templated characters into RvR groups, so we're not losing as many players once they hit RvR.
3. Some things are Mythics fault, some aren't. Quite a lot of the hostility, flaming, and 'precious' behaviour is simply down to us, the players.
4. Don't assume too much has changed, I started six months into the game, and only had a group for about an hour before 20, and only a couple more before 40 (as a shield pally AC groups meant I was in demand thereafter).
5. Some people like iRvR, some hate it. Don't expect too much help from your realm when you try to stop it, though, as so many won't help. Having iRvR in your realm for a while tends to kill Realm morale as a result.
6. Only way a game like this really builds is a result of the community. You could advertise and get 100's of new players easily enough. How will this community react ? Judging by freddieshouse, by flaming them for being noobs, adding, not adding, and by not grouping them, not talking to them, and generally driving them out of the game.
7. We can change that, if we have the will.
8. Don't be surprised if you start being bored after playing the game for 4+ years. How many other games have you got bored with before that ? It's not a poor game at all, it's great, get to know new players and see if through their eyes if you don't believe me.
