A few random points (some of which have been handily pre-flamed above).

1. The improved regen of health/power/endurance for PvE was added. See the latest patchnotes - of course, the tinderboxes don't drop in task dungeons - guess you'll have to roam outside to gain the true benefit.

2. I'm in a guild of mainly new players, most started within the last year or so. The hard bit isn't getting to 50, or Artifacts, or ML's, it's getting into RvR. Getting into RvR groups can be hard if you're not already reasonably high RR, and I can't see many people successfully soloing on their first character these days, especially when you lack the money to make a kick-ass template. Fortunately I'm not in an alliance that accepts lower RR / imperfectly templated characters into RvR groups, so we're not losing as many players once they hit RvR.

3. Some things are Mythics fault, some aren't. Quite a lot of the hostility, flaming, and 'precious' behaviour is simply down to us, the players.

4. Don't assume too much has changed, I started six months into the game, and only had a group for about an hour before 20, and only a couple more before 40 (as a shield pally AC groups meant I was in demand thereafter).

5. Some people like iRvR, some hate it. Don't expect too much help from your realm when you try to stop it, though, as so many won't help. Having iRvR in your realm for a while tends to kill Realm morale as a result.

6. Only way a game like this really builds is a result of the community. You could advertise and get 100's of new players easily enough. How will this community react ? Judging by freddieshouse, by flaming them for being noobs, adding, not adding, and by not grouping them, not talking to them, and generally driving them out of the game.

7. We can change that, if we have the will.

8. Don't be surprised if you start being bored after playing the game for 4+ years. How many other games have you got bored with before that ? It's not a poor game at all, it's great, get to know new players and see if through their eyes if you don't believe me.

On the note of new players: Best way to start new in DAoC? Get a few buddies together and roll out as a group. Not saying it's the easiest way, but it's without a doubt the best. Pretty much what we did as a guild, but then, I wouldn't reroll anywhere in DAoC w/o a group to play with from start, or PL available as I start the char on the server. Admitted, we're not new to the game, we're just new arrivals on EU-servers, most of us, if not all, have played pretty much since US retail started, or shortly thereafter..

But no, any real new player influx is pretty far from the horizon IMO.

Its true can't say its not, specialy 6.
Same reason I don't play very much 8vs8...cba whit some huge ego that has to tell evry1 how to play, and how great they are themselfs,....come to think of it ...nothing I dissrespect more. Ofc u are right and 4+years is a looooong time to play a game, and after all that time embrace new players. But much could have been done to get new players since the time they released ToA. That way the game would be easy for new players..since they could grp up ect.
Much have changed since I started playing after SI..specialy ToA, so prolly its a combo of the things u list, and the things I point at, in my post above.:)

Some very interesting points in this thread, if you can manage to skim over the usual flames;

With reference to Pips first post - I presume that the failed retake(s) of Nott prompted the original post. Whilst I wasn't there for the whole attempt, I joined the BG whilst Mids were on the main keep and Erodfira's group turned up, Mids were quickly kicked back to whence we came and eventually holed up in T3.

Now, there were 30+ mids there BUT the majority were solo, doing a /bg groups reported only two groups and of those the maximum had 4 members. You can (and will) draw your own conclusions from this, but from my point of view it seems that on the whole the people who are drawn to iRvR situation are those who prefer to solo - hence an organised group will take them apart in a keep take or defence.

Mid has certainly lost something in the last few weeks, it maybe, as people have mentioned - the demoralising effect of having Hibs and Albs in our backyard, or that summer & the World Cup are here and people have far more interesting things to do with their time.

What I will certainly say (to Pip as much as anyone else) is that if something is not to your liking - THEN BLOODY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT - form a group, form a BG and try and change it, rather than post a whine on FH about it.

Since when did you care about the fairness/solo gameplay? All you seems to care for is zerging ppl and griefing.

lmao...thats funny coming from mr /laugh spam when i get jumped by 5NS including you.

and zerging people as a solo..ur posts make even more sence now.

and i agree that mid has lost it touch, due to lack of organisation and the will to take keeps.

but also i dont see why people go on and on about warlocks, what about the banshee's?, with Hib who are ment to be "under populated" and 3full grps cant even take out 5hibs. GOA says that the relams are fair and well balanced, but the relaity is far from it,

also the bugs in this game which ARE used by banshee's and they know it :wanker: and they know who they are (and the other bugs)

p.s. Censi, dont you get board of saying crap-pipe all the time you little titnotrant, maybe it's that ur just mad at pip, i think i know why, your one of these peeps who window shop, looking at the stuff you cant buy.

(sorry for spelling errors etc)
