Know a few people who chose the same path only one of them still with the police, problems being was the lack of respect and understanding from the public, red tape taking up more of there working time than actually doing anything and a cps that now seems to favour the instigators of crime rather than the victoms and police force and if you get past that a piss poor court service that hands out slaps on the wrist for the worst offenders :<

Can be a very rewarding career but I just wanted to let you know it can also be a very frustraiting one too, hope it all goes well for you and good luck :) certainly not a job I think I could do.

A cop is NEVER off duty.

You need to look past the rose-tinted I'm-helping-my-community PR bullshit that they feed to rookies.

And BTW, SO19 is now renamed as CO19.

I think as long as you are willing and enthusiastic (sp?) enough for something, go for it. Don't 'just settle' for something because you will get bored easily and grow tired.

Police is not for me, enjoy working with the MoD.
