Lads, the peeps I live with me tell me that Metal Gear Solid for PC comes out today, if anyone spots it on the shelves (UK) plz post your sightings, I can't get out to get it today and really don't want to have to go into the city tomorrow if it aint there!

Cracking game. Not sure how it plays unless you have a good PC gamepad.

nope, got a jap ps2 but the damn thing don't like the uk version of MGS!

hmm i got mgs on the PSX, played it, loved it.
got it on PC, exactly the same, looks nicer,impossible to play without joypad.

i wouldnt bother with MGS/res evil on PC the controls become way 2 fiddly,like mookie said u need a decent pad

Dunno who told you it was due this week, but they were wrong. I did the rounds yesterday and no sign of it in any retailers.

If you check the BW release dates page (/pimp) you'll see its listed as 20/10/00. An thats the offical release date direct from MS.

I've had it for two weeks now, but haven't installed it yet. By the sound of it I should, just to see what all the fuss is about.

Don't ask me to tell you where I got it, it's not there anymore.

Well, I just got MGS for my PC and all I can say is GODDAMN!!

The demo sucks, the hardware acceleration doesn't work properly... the full game however... >

For all their "faults", consoles are inherently more sociable than PCs.

Easiest just to get both.

Why? I have Bleem and UltraHLE... why when I've spent £1800 on this PC in the last year would I want something that plays game on my telly when I have a perfectly serviceable 21" trinitron monitor

Back onto the topic of the thread....

The copy of Metal Gear Solid (PC) that I was given is a reviewers copy... no manual or cd-case... just two "Microsoft Games:MetalGearSolid" CD's and a press release...

and i'm stuck...

I've just watched the president die of a heart attack and I'm meant to be contacting some girl over the codec... it says that the frequency is on the cd-case... I can't find any cd's in game... does that mean that MS have sent me a game to review and forgotten to ship a case with bits of info on it (i.e. copy protection) or have I just missed something?

Exactly because the PS runs on a telly. You stick the CD in, power it up, and it goes. The controls are easy, and perfectly suited to "arcade" style games. You can sit round the thing with your mates, and have a good laugh. You simply cannot do that on a PC. The only games I ever play now on my PC are multiplayer internet ones, basically because playing on your own is antisocial and boring.

Besides, I have a nice monitor too, but I have a 40" telly
