Meduza banned.

Heh yeah I acted angry in my post towards Meduza, mainly because he's such a hypocrit and basically is trying to annoy me all the time on IRC.

All I said in my thread was, something Meduza himself confirmed later, he was zerging. And he feels the need to make sexist comments and doesn't respect the mods opinion to close the threads.

I closed my own thread to prevent it to get out of hand, which admittedly I should have known before I even made it, but then it was zlair who made a new one in which I've done nothing wrong, I only defended myself. Then the post is closed, and he starts 2 more threads......

Only thing that interests me is why Meduza got warned for this. I would understand the warning if someone was making a serious post and someone else made a comment out of nowhere about his or her gender but in this case both VF and Meduza acted like 4 year olds and therefore i don't understand it. The way is see it, is was just two people challenging eachother with flamylike comments.

I'm not going to comment on Meduza's behaviour after the warning cause i have to agree that's very bad so the eventual ban is understandable for me.

At some point people can be fed up with the ammount of stupidity, hypocracy, and hate showed towards them. I've done nothing wrong to zlair, ever, he started acting hateful towards me when I killed him in rvr once and that is hardly a crime.

I know it was kinda childish to call him dumb, but read ALL the posts again, and say he wasn't dumb, right in my face

VF first daoc is a game and BW is a game to meduza aswell, so dont take him serious.

second meduza didnt probably know you were the bard and just emoted one of the hibs that had probably "Zerged" his friends (1fg vs 2 stealthers can be seen as a zerg).

I have read all the posts fyi and that's why i got surprised in the first place. I think if i would have only read the so called sexist comment the warning wouldn't have surprised me but because it was made in response to what u started this warning is not fair i think.

It's pretty obvious you and Meduza can't get along but asking for a ban (not that he was banned because you asked for it though) because you got fed up with him annoying you on IRC isn't right now is it?

If you are really fed up with him there are a lot of ways to help you ignore him both on IRC and on BW. But don't challenge people by flaming them and ask for bans when they do the same to you. Maybe if you reread your own posts you can see that it was really you who started flaming Meduza in the first place so don't start about hypocracy.

Vodka fairy never asked for the ban, and Meduza would never have been banned for the argument between those two alone.

Truth of the matter is, what should just have been a private request to not use sexist statements to get at someone you don't like escalated into a banning because Medusa chose to push it and push it to that situation.

because he like seeing you get wound up about that. Taunting you is a game, seeing you getting pissed off is the joy to him.

Dunno wasnt there and I doubt meduza actually remembered it himself, dont worry to much about emotes in game sometimes people just use them to get you out of your game.

edit: damini read meduzas first closed thread again VF does ask (half jokingly most likely) for a ban.

I didn't start flaming Meduza, I was just mentioning alot of things that annoyed me that night (yeah yeah I shouldn't have but I did anyway) and his stealthzerg was one of them. He even admitted it. So I never started flaming, I just pointed out a fact, it was him, who started. And after so many posts saying Tilda or Bels wants to date me or whatever and thats why they lock the posts, I just can't help myself anymore

I asked for a ban because he started flaming for no reason, making up the most stupid and irrelevant arguments EVER just to annoy me. And this isn't the first time..

And yes the smilie behind asking for a ban indicated it was kinda a joke but he pushed it to the limit

Such laws might include:Obscene material, defamatory remarks, harrassment, abusive or threating language and/or behaviour...

I only have one word for you: Consistency.

People may not like my controversial comments made regarding booking sheets and the like but if nothing else I'm pretty consistent.

Character A killing Character B in DAOC is not real life, telling somebody to FOAD in these forums is real life.

Ok, VF might have asked for a ban, I can't have taken much notice because I didn't think it warranted a ban. Two people flaming at each other doesn't justify banning one or the other (and I'm not privy to IRC or ingame feuds, and so I can't/won't take them into account here).

He wasn't banned because of any request by VF, he was banned because he pushed to be.

And so what then? Should we shut down the forums outside the 9-5, so that posts can't be made when people aren't available to moderate them? A famous football forum recently decided to close down at night because it cant get the moderators to work all night. Should we do that too? Should we make people submit posts in an e-mail before hand, so we can check the content before it is posted?

You have to be reasonable.

And, as has been said so many times its unreal, if people are making threats or wishing people dead we take that very seriously.

Just because its free there's no reason to expect some standards

Anyhow, whether or not the ban for Meduza was right or wrong, I leave out of the question. What suprises me the most was the fact alot of people didnt get banned for something way more serious.

However as one of the moderators pointed out Meduza didnt get banned because of the content of his posts, but because he was annoying, opening new threads etc.

While I can relate to that I still think either alot more people deserve to get banned or Meduza his ban is the result of one of the moderators having a bad day and didnt wanna coop with Meduza his nagging (which I can understand).

And about my relationship with Meduza: The only thing Meduza and me share is that both of us where in the same guild for a while (we aren't in that guild either of us). I did have some words with Meduza in the past but in the end I never had a big problem with him or his attitude.

What strikes me most is just the randomness of the ban. Nothing more, nothing less.

I said I can understand and relate to why Meduza is banned. What I dont understand is that alot of people do bad things (perhaps worse) very often and dont get banned.

Its not that I dont want Meduza banned or something. I think its strange Meduza is banned but alot of others are not while they do exactly the same (or perhaps even worse in some cases from my POV).
