I wish to try my hand at some overclocking...

I'm considering cranking up the FSB, but read somewere somthing about locking the PCIBus, how does one do this with an Asus A7N8X Deluxe (V2)...

I'm also considering updateing the bios, can anyone tell me about teh advatages of doing this?

(no, i don't know the current version...)

my a7n8x deluxe allows lots of FSB cranking, and I've tortured my 2800barton severely in the past. be aware that your CPU will get quite a bit hotter than normal.

I don't do it any more though, as I wanted a fast and quiet pc, not a faster noisy (cooling) one :)

I've cranked my FSB all the way from 133 to 200, no temp change and i'm still running at 1600mhz but my RAM and north bridge shouldbe pulling there weight now.

I've found out my BIOS version, its 1006 and the new one is 1007.

The PICBus seems to be OK as well...

Depends on your pcb revision, should be marked on the motherboard next to the motherboard name
