eh?

So who would you consider great developers?

Nintendo, they're okay but they always take years and then the final product has already been done. I mean how many times do you want to rescue a princess?

How many times do you want to shoot an enemy from a 1st person perspective? How many times do you want to race a car?

It's not the destination that makes a game great, it's the journey.

PSX was the same. It's only so Sony can efuse that "PS2 HAS OVAR 200 TITELS!!1"

Yer, but 85% are shit->mediocre.

So just buy the good ones. Simply answer to that problem, if you can even call it a problem.

PS2 does have some great titles but most are just pure crap.

Not great value for money then...

I'd prefer something like GC with really enjoyable fun games aplenty.

1st person games- only play pc ones cos' rest are crap.

Don't bother with any racing games (perhaps Wipeout will be good).

Kind of understand your metaphor but still does'nt answer my question.

No it's just hyperbole, name some decent developers in your opinion.

PlayStation 2 is the console to own. This, my Nintendo loving friends, is a fact. It has the games already out there, it has the guaranteed future support, it has one of the biggest companies in the world backing it and it has the right price. Anyone who cannot see this is so badly deluded it isnt even that funny.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
Rogue Squadron II

Super Monkey Ball

And that's just off the top of me head, before the console is even on sale here. That's probably equivalent to the number of really good PS2 titles on sale now.

So you're comparing a bunch of games which aren't out yet, to a bunch of games which are? Anyone else see the problem with this?

Only decent one is Biohazard but thats a remake of a story Resident fans already know back to front. I'm a big Resident fan and a lot are looking foward to it but would've far prefered a new story as oppossed to a remake. The story is after all what makes a Biohazard game.

That was the question I was answering.

As for developers:

Nintendo themselves
Sega
Capcom
Kanomi
Rare

All of whom are developing for GC, many of them exclusively.

Yer, shows how bad the majority of PS2 games really are.

Resident Evil 2 was ok, but the recent ones have been far too derivative. The words "cash" and "cow" come to mind.

That encompasses most games developers, film makers, etc nowadays anyway ;)

Quick list of developers working on PS2 games?

Sony (exclusive)
Polyphony (exclusive)
Sega (some excl.)
Capcom
Konami
Square (exclusive)
DMA
Neversoft
Namco
EA

That's all I can think of off the top of me head. I'm guessing there are hundreds more.

I hang around a lot of re forums and a lot are dispointed that it's on GC. There also annoyed its a remake e.g GC flops and they can shift the true next generation of evil titles somewhere else.

Capcom are'nt exclsive, Re will be for this year and most of next. Konami are'nt, Rare is Nintendo and who really wants Segas weak arcade conversions anyway.

the funny thing is...you consider these titles great games:rolleyes:

the majority of that list arent even developed as a household name where i live, Pikmin, how old are you? seriously:D

i count about 3 games there that would appeal to me and people i know, whereas there are about 20 - 30 on the PS2 that would:p

You really make no sense at all. Please explain what on earth you're on about.

#edit#
I checked again, still don't get it. Rare is affiliatte of Nintendo and Sega make shallow arcade button bashers?

The only ones that are exclusive in your list are Nintendo and Rare... I wonder why that is :/

I've seen super monkey ball on thumb bandidits , and it look's kind of good, and it isn't even a nintendo game, so unless you go to the point saying that sega is crap

When I had my N64 I got frustrated at the childish games, but with the game cube I know I won't be, the games on offer (sega , resident evil, some proper racing games free of cartoon characters) plus that nintendo magic. :D :flame:

Nintendo own a huge stake in Rare, they are basically their parent company. They will only produce games for Nintendo hardware.

Sega make little else but arcade games. VF3tb was excellent, so was Sega Rally 2 but seriously lack any replay value. Still, as you stated, wrongly, they are'nt making games exclusively for Gc.

So which developers other than Nintendo are only developing for Gc, huh?

This is totally incorrect I'm afraid. You really must think before posting comments like this.

A couple of years ago SEGA split their development teams into very distinct Divisions (AMD1, Sonic Team, Hitmaker etc ). The brief was to diversify the output. ie. to produce much more than games like Afterburner, Sega Rally etc.

The fruits that have been borne from this strategy include:

Shenmue 1 & 2
Virtua Tennis 1 & 2
Jet Set Radio (and updates)
Samba de Amigo
Sonic Adventure
Space Channel 5
Skies of Arcadia
Phantasy Star Online

and much much more....

Sure, they still make shallow arcade games, but that's because they still produce Arcade games!

But to say that SEGA make little else but arcade games.........oh dear.

Too true. Sega have become hot property since dropping the hardware side of consoles and they are developing on many of the platforms.
