It seems fashionable to slate the PC version of Halo, but I love it! It's got the most engaging story in a game for a long time (beats Max Payne 2 for story).
Peeps here have said it looks dated, and I'm surprised. Parts where huge dropships appear overhead, smoothly swoop down before lifting off again I found breathtaking.
Much, much better than the standard Quake III Arena engine stuff that's been knocking about.
Shame it crashes whenever it tries to load a certain level so I can't progress, BUT EVEN THAT hasn't put me off the quality of the game.
edit: Typo! I said Quake II Arena! AHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, man what a mistake-a to make-a! Oh dear-o-dear.... AHAHAHAH!
The level's called Betrayals and the crash occurs shortly after you fly the Banshee for the first time and have to land on a high ledge. I dismount, go through a door, follow a corridor round two corners, the 'Loading' message comes up and I crash to desktop with a 'Gathering Exception data' message.
Finished Max Payne 2 last night. It is a touch short and pretty easy.
I played one of them dead man walking levels where you have to stay alive as long as possible and lasted over 5 mins on the first map (courtyard?) on my first go. Is this good?
Oh hang on, I don't care cos I'm deleting it now....
Does anyone have problems with sound in Max Payne 2?
I tried running the game with "EAX Environmental Effects" and "Multi-channel sound" on, and although it sounds gorgeous for a short period of time - it starts crackling and going quiet pretty soon after.
If I run it in "normal" mode (i.e. without either of the two options above on) then its fine.
Any thoughts? Running a SB Live! with "digital only" SPDIF output, on a Intel P4.
such a cool game, the graphic novel art, works really well. Some of the screenshots you get just make you grin, looks wicked in BT.I havnt played first one(new to pc)but will after this, its really cheap now .
